הָעֲשִׂירִ֔י

hā·‘ă·śî·rî,

בֶּעָשׂ֥וֹר

be·‘ā·śō·wr

on the tenth [day]

､ לַחֹ֖דֶשׁ

la·ḥō·ḏeš

of the month ､

､ לֵאמֹֽר׃

lê·mōr.

､ אָדָ֗ם

וּמְשֹׁ֤ל

אֶל־

הַמֶּ֙רִי֙

ham·me·rî

מָשָׁ֔ל

mā·šāl,

וְאָמַרְתָּ֣

wə·’ā·mar·tā

and say

אֲלֵיהֶ֔ם

’ă·lê·hem,

כֹּ֥ה

kōh

אָמַ֖ר

’ā·mar

אֲדֹנָ֣י

’ă·ḏō·nāy

the Lord

– יְהוִ֑ה

Yah·weh;

GOD –

שְׁפֹ֤ת

šə·p̄ōṯ

Put on

､ הַסִּיר֙

has·sîr

a pot ､

､ שְׁפֹ֔ת

šə·p̄ōṯ,

set [it] on ､

וְגַם־

wə·ḡam-

and also

יְצֹ֥ק

yə·ṣōq

בּ֖וֹ

bōw

. מָֽיִם׃

mā·yim.

אֱסֹ֤ף

’ĕ·sōp̄

נְתָחֶ֙יהָ֙

nə·ṯā·ḥe·hā

pieces [of] [meat]

אֵלֶ֔יהָ

’ê·le·hā,

in it

כָּל־

kāl-

､ נֵ֥תַח

nê·ṯaḥ

ט֖וֹב

ṭō·wḇ

､ יָרֵ֣ךְ

yā·rêḵ

the thigh ､

– וְכָתֵ֑ף

wə·ḵā·ṯêp̄;

and the shoulder –

מִבְחַ֥ר

miḇ·ḥar

עֲצָמִ֖ים

‘ă·ṣā·mîm

with cuts

. מַלֵּֽא׃

mal·lê.

Fill [it] .

מִבְחַ֤ר

miḇ·ḥar

､ הַצֹּאן֙

haṣ·ṣōn

of the flock ､

לָק֔וֹחַ

lā·qō·w·aḥ,

וְגַ֛ם

wə·ḡam

and

דּ֥וּר

dūr

הָעֲצָמִ֖ים

hā·‘ă·ṣā·mîm

תַּחְתֶּ֑יהָ

taḥ·te·hā;

､ רַתַּ֣ח

rat·taḥ

Make it boil ､

רְתָחֶ֔יהָ

rə·ṯā·ḥe·hā,

גַּם־

gam-

and

בָּשְׁל֥וּ

bā·šə·lū

עֲצָמֶ֖יהָ

‘ă·ṣā·me·hā

the cuts

. בְּתוֹכָֽהּ׃

bə·ṯō·w·ḵāh.

מִמֶּ֑נָּה

לִנְתָחֶ֤יהָ

of a rock –

שָׂמָ֑תְהוּ

שְׁפָכַ֙תְהוּ֙

she did pour it

עַל־

‘al-

on

､ הָאָ֔רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ,

the ground ､

לְכַסּ֥וֹת

lə·ḵas·sō·wṯ

עָלָ֖יו

‘ā·lāw

it

– עָפָֽר׃

‘ā·p̄ār.

with dust –

לְהַעֲל֤וֹת

lə·ha·‘ă·lō·wṯ

that it may raise up

חֵמָה֙

ḥê·māh

לִנְקֹ֣ם

lin·qōm

and take

– נָקָ֔ם

nā·qām,

נָתַ֥תִּי

nā·ṯat·tî

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

דָּמָ֖הּ

dā·māh

עַל־

‘al-

on

צְחִ֣יחַ

ṣə·ḥî·aḥ

､ סָ֑לַע

sā·la‘;

of a rock ､

לְבִלְתִּ֖י

lə·ḇil·tî

that not

. הִכָּסֽוֹת׃

hik·kā·sō·wṯ.

it may be covered .

הַדָּמִ֑ים

גַּם־

אֲנִ֖י

I

אַגְדִּ֥יל

’aḡ·dîl

will make great

. הַמְּדוּרָֽה׃

ham·mə·ḏū·rāh.

the pyre .

הַרְבֵּ֤ה

har·bêh

､ הָעֵצִים֙

hā·‘ê·ṣîm

the wood ､

הַדְלֵ֣ק

haḏ·lêq

､ הָאֵ֔שׁ

hā·’êš,

the fire ､

הָתֵ֖ם

hā·ṯêm

､ הַבָּשָׂ֑ר

hab·bā·śār;

the meat ､

וְהַרְקַח֙

wə·har·qaḥ

and Mix in

､ הַמֶּרְקָחָ֔ה

ham·mer·qā·ḥāh,

the spices ､

וְהָעֲצָמ֖וֹת

wə·hā·‘ă·ṣā·mō·wṯ

and the cuts

. יֵחָֽרוּ׃

yê·ḥā·rū.

let be burned up .

וְהַעֲמִידֶ֥הָ

wə·ha·‘ă·mî·ḏe·hā

And set the pot

עַל־

‘al-

on

גֶּחָלֶ֖יהָ

ge·ḥā·le·hā

רֵקָ֑ה

rê·qāh;

לְמַ֨עַן

lə·ma·‘an

תֵּחַ֜ם

tê·ḥam

it may become hot

､ וְחָ֣רָה

wə·ḥā·rāh

and may burn ､

נְחֻשְׁתָּ֗הּ

nə·ḥuš·tāh,

וְנִתְּכָ֤ה

wə·nit·tə·ḵāh

and may be melted

בְתוֹכָהּ֙

ḇə·ṯō·w·ḵāh

in it

טֻמְאָתָ֔הּ

ṭum·’ā·ṯāh,

[That] its filthiness

תִּתֻּ֖ם

tit·tum

may be consumed

. חֶלְאָתָֽהּ׃

ḥel·’ā·ṯāh.

[That] its scum .

､ תְּאֻנִ֖ים

tə·’u·nîm

With lies ､

הֶלְאָ֑ת

hel·’āṯ;

she has grown weary

וְלֹֽא־

wə·lō-

and not

תֵצֵ֤א

ṯê·ṣê

מִמֶּ֙נָּה֙

mim·men·nāh

רַבַּ֣ת

rab·baṯ

חֶלְאָתָ֔הּ

ḥel·’ā·ṯāh,

בְּאֵ֖שׁ

bə·’êš

in the fire

. חֶלְאָתָֽהּ׃

ḥel·’ā·ṯāh.

[let] her scum [be] .

בְּטֻמְאָתֵ֖ךְ

bə·ṭum·’ā·ṯêḵ

In your filthiness

. זִמָּ֑ה

zim·māh;

[is] lewdness .

יַ֤עַן

ya·‘an

טִֽהַרְתִּיךְ֙

ṭi·har·tîḵ

I have cleansed you

וְלֹ֣א

wə·lō

and not

､ טָהַ֔רְתְּ

ṭā·hart,

you were cleansed ､

מִטֻּמְאָתֵךְ֙

miṭ·ṭum·’ā·ṯêḵ

of your filthiness

לֹ֣א

lō

not

תִטְהֲרִי־

ṯiṭ·hă·rî-

You will be cleansed

､ ע֔וֹד

‘ō·wḏ,

עַד־

‘aḏ-

הֲנִיחִ֥י

hă·nî·ḥî

I have caused to rest

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

חֲמָתִ֖י

ḥă·mā·ṯî

. בָּֽךְ׃

bāḵ.

אֲנִ֨י

’ă·nî

I

יְהוָ֤ה

Yah·weh

דִּבַּ֙רְתִּי֙

dib·bar·tî

have spoken [it]

､ בָּאָ֣ה

bā·’āh

it shall come to pass ､

וְעָשִׂ֔יתִי

wə·‘ā·śî·ṯî,

and I will do [it]

לֹֽא־

lō-

not

､ אֶפְרַ֥ע

’ep̄·ra‘

I will hold back ､

וְלֹא־

wə·lō-

and nor

､ אָח֖וּס

’ā·ḥūs

will I spare ､

וְלֹ֣א

wə·lō

and nor

– אֶנָּחֵ֑ם

’en·nā·ḥêm;

will I relent –

､ כִּדְרָכַ֤יִךְ

kiḏ·rā·ḵa·yiḵ

According to your ways ､

､ וְכַעֲלִילוֹתַ֙יִךְ֙

wə·ḵa·‘ă·lî·lō·w·ṯa·yiḵ

and according to your deeds ､

שְׁפָט֔וּךְ

šə·p̄ā·ṭūḵ,

they will judge you

נְאֻ֖ם

nə·’um

אֲדֹנָ֥י

’ă·ḏō·nāy

the Lord

. יְהֹוִֽה׃

And came

דְבַר־

to me

､ לֵאמֹֽר׃

lê·mōr.

בֶּן־

ben-

､ אָדָ֕ם

’ā·ḏām

of man ､

הִנְנִ֨י

hin·nî

לֹקֵ֧חַ

lō·qê·aḥ

מִמְּךָ֛

mim·mə·ḵā

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

מַחְמַ֥ד

maḥ·maḏ

עֵינֶ֖יךָ

‘ê·ne·ḵā

– בְּמַגֵּפָ֑ה

bə·mag·gê·p̄āh;

with one stroke –

וְלֹ֤א

wə·lō

and yet neither

תִסְפֹּד֙

ṯis·pōḏ

you shall mourn

וְלֹ֣א

wə·lō

and nor

､ תִבְכֶּ֔ה

ṯiḇ·keh,

weep ､

וְל֥וֹא

wə·lō·w

and nor

תָב֖וֹא

ṯā·ḇō·w

. דִּמְעָתֶֽךָ׃

dim·‘ā·ṯe·ḵā.

､ הֵאָנֵ֣ק ׀

hê·’ā·nêq

Sigh ､

דֹּ֗ם

dōm,

､ מֵתִים֙

mê·ṯîm

for the dead ､

אֵ֣בֶל

’ê·ḇel

לֹֽא־

lō-

no

תַֽעֲשֶׂ֔ה

ṯa·‘ă·śeh,

פְאֵֽרְךָ֙

p̄ə·’ê·rə·ḵā

חֲב֣וֹשׁ

ḥă·ḇō·wōš

עָלֶ֔יךָ

‘ā·le·ḵā,

וּנְעָלֶ֖יךָ

ū·nə·‘ā·le·ḵā

and your sandals

תָּשִׂ֣ים

tā·śîm

､ בְּרַגְלֶ֑יךָ

bə·raḡ·le·ḵā;

on your feet ､

וְלֹ֤א

wə·lō

and not

תַעְטֶה֙

ṯa‘·ṭeh

עַל־

‘al-

､ שָׂפָ֔ם

śā·p̄ām,

[your] lips ､

וְלֶ֥חֶם

wə·le·ḥem

and bread [of] [sorrow]

אֲנָשִׁ֖ים

’ă·nā·šîm

of man

לֹ֥א

lō

not

. תֹאכֵֽל׃

ṯō·ḵêl.

do eat .

וָאֲדַבֵּ֤ר

wā·’ă·ḏab·bêr

So I spoke

אֶל־

’el-

to

הָעָם֙

hā·‘ām

､ בַּבֹּ֔קֶר

bab·bō·qer,

in the morning ､

– וַתָּ֥מָת

wat·tā·māṯ

and died –

אִשְׁתִּ֖י

’iš·tî

בָּעָ֑רֶב

bā·‘ā·reḇ;

וָאַ֥עַשׂ

wā·’a·‘aś

and I did

בַּבֹּ֖קֶר

bab·bō·qer

the [next] morning

כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר

ka·’ă·šer

as

. צֻוֵּֽיתִי׃

ṣuw·wê·ṯî.

I was commanded .

וַיֹּאמְר֥וּ

way·yō·mə·rū

And said

אֵלַ֖י

’ê·lay

to me

הָעָ֑ם

hā·‘ām;

הֲלֹֽא־

hă·lō-

will not

תַגִּ֥יד

ṯag·gîḏ

לָ֙נוּ֙

lā·nū

us

מָה־

māh-

אֵ֣לֶּה

’êl·leh

לָּ֔נוּ

lā·nū,

[signify] to us

כִּ֥י

kî

אַתָּ֖ה

’at·tāh

. עֹשֶֽׂה׃

‘ō·śeh.

､ וָאֹמַ֖ר

wā·’ō·mar

And I answered ､

אֲלֵיהֶ֑ם

’ă·lê·hem;

דְּבַ֨ר־

də·ḇar-

the word

יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

הָיָ֥ה

hā·yāh

אֵלַ֖י

’ê·lay

to me

. לֵאמֹֽר׃

lê·mōr.

אֱמֹ֣ר ׀

’ĕ·mōr

לְבֵ֣ית

lə·ḇêṯ

to the house

､ יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל

yiś·rā·’êl,

of Israel ､

כֹּֽה־

kōh-

אָמַר֮

’ā·mar

אֲדֹנָ֣י

’ă·ḏō·nāy

the Lord

– יְהוִה֒

Yah·weh

GOD –

הִנְנִ֨י

hin·nî

מְחַלֵּ֤ל

mə·ḥal·lêl

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ מִקְדָּשִׁי֙

miq·dā·šî

My sanctuary ､

גְּא֣וֹן

gə·’ō·wn

､ עֻזְּכֶ֔ם

‘uz·zə·ḵem,

מַחְמַ֥ד

maḥ·maḏ

､ עֵֽינֵיכֶ֖ם

‘ê·nê·ḵem

of your eyes ､

– וּמַחְמַ֣ל

ū·maḥ·mal

and the delight –

נַפְשְׁכֶ֑ם

nap̄·šə·ḵem;

וּבְנֵיכֶ֧ם

ū·ḇə·nê·ḵem

וּבְנֽוֹתֵיכֶ֛ם

ū·ḇə·nō·w·ṯê·ḵem

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

עֲזַבְתֶּ֖ם

‘ă·zaḇ·tem

you left behind

בַּחֶ֥רֶב

ba·ḥe·reḇ

by the sword

. יִפֹּֽלוּ׃

yip·pō·lū.

וַעֲשִׂיתֶ֖ם

wa·‘ă·śî·ṯem

And you shall do

כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר

ka·’ă·šer

as

– עָשִׂ֑יתִי

‘ā·śî·ṯî;

I have done –

עַל־

‘al-

､ שָׂפָם֙

śā·p̄ām

[your] lips ､

לֹ֣א

lō

not

תַעְט֔וּ

ṯa‘·ṭū,

you shall cover

וְלֶ֥חֶם

wə·le·ḥem

and bread [of] [sorrow]

אֲנָשִׁ֖ים

’ă·nā·šîm

of man

לֹ֥א

lō

. תֹאכֵֽלוּ׃

ṯō·ḵê·lū.

וּפְאֵרֵכֶ֣ם

ū·p̄ə·’ê·rê·ḵem

And Your turbans shall be

עַל־

‘al-

on

､ רָאשֵׁיכֶ֗ם

rā·šê·ḵem,

וְנַֽעֲלֵיכֶם֙

wə·na·‘ă·lê·ḵem

and your sandals

. בְּרַגְלֵיכֶ֔ם

bə·raḡ·lê·ḵem,

לֹ֥א

lō

תִסְפְּד֖וּ

ṯis·pə·ḏū

you shall mourn

וְלֹ֣א

wə·lō

and nor

– תִבְכּ֑וּ

ṯiḇ·kū;

weep –

וּנְמַקֹּתֶם֙

ū·nə·maq·qō·ṯem

but you shall pine away

､ בַּעֲוֺנֹ֣תֵיכֶ֔ם

ba·‘ă·wō·nō·ṯê·ḵem,

in your iniquities ､

וּנְהַמְתֶּ֖ם

ū·nə·ham·tem

אִ֥ישׁ

’îš

אֶל־

’el-

with

. אָחִֽיו׃

’ā·ḥîw.

וְהָיָ֨ה

wə·hā·yāh

יְחֶזְקֵ֤אל

yə·ḥez·qêl

לָכֶם֙

lā·ḵem

to you

– לְמוֹפֵ֔ת

lə·mō·w·p̄êṯ,

a sign –

כְּכֹ֥ל

kə·ḵōl

according to all

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

עָשָׂ֖ה

‘ā·śāh

– תַּעֲשׂ֑וּ

ta·‘ă·śū;

you shall do –

､ בְּבֹאָ֕הּ

bə·ḇō·’āh

and when this comes ､

וִֽידַעְתֶּ֕ם

wî·ḏa‘·tem

כִּ֥י

kî

אֲנִ֖י

’ă·nî

I [am]

אֲדֹנָ֥י

’ă·ḏō·nāy

the Lord

. יְהוִֽה׃

Yah·weh.

וְאַתָּ֣ה

wə·’at·tāh

And you

בֶן־

ḇen-

､ אָדָ֔ם

’ā·ḏām,

of man ､

הֲל֗וֹא

hă·lō·w,

[will [it] [be] not

בְּי֨וֹם

bə·yō·wm

in the day

קַחְתִּ֤י

qaḥ·tî

מֵהֶם֙

mê·hem

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ מָ֣עוּזָּ֔ם

mā·‘ūz·zām,

their stronghold ､

מְשׂ֖וֹשׂ

mə·śō·wś

､ תִּפְאַרְתָּ֑ם

tip̄·’ar·tām;

and their glory ､

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

מַחְמַ֤ד

maḥ·maḏ

､ עֵֽינֵיהֶם֙

‘ê·nê·hem

of their eyes ､

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

מַשָּׂ֣א

maś·śā

that on which they set

､ נַפְשָׁ֔ם

nap̄·šām,

their minds ､

בְּנֵיהֶ֖ם

bə·nê·hem

､ וּבְנוֹתֵיהֶֽם׃

ū·ḇə·nō·w·ṯê·hem.

and their daughters ､

בַּיּ֣וֹם

bay·yō·wm

on day

הַה֔וּא

ha·hū,

יָב֥וֹא

yā·ḇō·w

will come

הַפָּלִ֖יט

hap·pā·lîṭ

one who escapes

אֵלֶ֑יךָ

’ê·le·ḵā;

to you

לְהַשְׁמָע֖וּת

lə·haš·mā·‘ūṯ

to let [you] hear [it] with

؟ אָזְנָֽיִם׃

’ā·zə·nā·yim.

בַּיּ֣וֹם

bay·yō·wm

on day

הַה֗וּא

ha·hū,

יִפָּ֤תַח

yip·pā·ṯaḥ

will be opened

פִּ֙יךָ֙

pî·ḵā

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ הַפָּלִ֔יט

hap·pā·lîṭ,

to him who has escaped ､

､ וּתְדַבֵּ֕ר

ū·ṯə·ḏab·bêr

and you shall speak ､

וְלֹ֥א

wə·lō

and no

– תֵֽאָלֵ֖ם

ṯê·’ā·lêm

be mute –

ע֑וֹד

‘ō·wḏ;

וְהָיִ֤יתָ

wə·hā·yî·ṯā

thus you will be

לָהֶם֙

lā·hem

לְמוֹפֵ֔ת

lə·mō·w·p̄êṯ,

וְיָדְע֖וּ

wə·yā·ḏə·‘ū

and they shall know

כִּֽי־

kî-

אֲנִ֥י

’ă·nî

I [am]

. יְהוָֽה׃
