of the vision

נַח֖וּם

na·ḥūm

. הָאֶלְקֹשִֽׁי׃

hā·’el·qō·šî.

the Elkoshite .

אֵ֣ל

’êl

God [is]

､ קַנּ֤וֹא

qan·nō·w

– וְנֹקֵם֙

wə·nō·qêm

and avenges –

יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

､ נֹקֵ֥ם

nō·qêm

יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

וּבַ֣עַל

ū·ḇa·‘al

and

– חֵמָ֑ה

ḥê·māh;

[is] furious –

נֹקֵ֤ם

nō·qêm

will take vengeance

יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

､ לְצָרָ֔יו

lə·ṣā·rāw,

on His adversaries ､

וְנוֹטֵ֥ר

wə·nō·w·ṭêr

and reserves [wrath]

ה֖וּא

hū

He

. לְאֹיְבָֽיו׃

lə·’ō·yə·ḇāw.

for His enemies .

יְהֹוָ֗ה

Yah·weh

אֶ֤רֶךְ

’e·reḵ

､ אַפַּ֙יִם֙

’ap·pa·yim

to anger ､

[וגדול־]

ū·ḡə·ḏō·wl-

-

(וּגְדָל־)

ū·ḡə·ḏāl-

and great in

כֹּ֔חַ

kō·aḥ,

וְנַקֵּ֖ה

wə·naq·qêh

and at all

לֹ֣א

lō

not

יְנַקֶּ֑ה

yə·naq·qeh;

will acquit [the wicked]

יְהוָ֗ה

Yah·weh

בְּסוּפָ֤ה

bə·sū·p̄āh

in the whirlwind

､ וּבִשְׂעָרָה֙

ū·ḇiś·‘ā·rāh

and in the storm ､

דַּרְכּ֔וֹ

dar·kōw,

וְעָנָ֖ן

wə·‘ā·nān

and the clouds [are]

אֲבַ֥ק

’ă·ḇaq

the dust

. רַגְלָֽיו׃

raḡ·lāw.

גּוֹעֵ֤ר

gō·w·‘êr

､ בַּיָּם֙

bay·yām

the sea ､

､ וַֽיַּבְּשֵׁ֔הוּ

way·yab·bə·šê·hū,

and makes it dry ､

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

and all

. הַנְּהָר֖וֹת

han·nə·hā·rō·wṯ

the rivers .

הֶֽחֱרִ֑יב

he·ḥĕ·rîḇ;

אֻמְלַ֤ל

’um·lal

בָּשָׁן֙

bā·šān

､ וְכַרְמֶ֔ל

wə·ḵar·mel,

and Carmel ､

וּפֶ֥רַח

ū·p̄e·raḥ

and the flower

לְבָנ֖וֹן

lə·ḇā·nō·wn

. אֻמְלָֽל׃

’um·lāl.

הָרִים֙

hā·rîm

רָעֲשׁ֣וּ

rā·‘ă·šū

מִמֶּ֔נּוּ

mim·men·nū,

וְהַגְּבָע֖וֹת

wə·hag·gə·ḇā·‘ō·wṯ

and the hills

､ הִתְמֹגָ֑גוּ

hiṯ·mō·ḡā·ḡū;

melt ､

וַתִּשָּׂ֤א

wat·tiś·śā

הָאָ֙רֶץ֙

hā·’ā·reṣ

､ מִפָּנָ֔יו

mip·pā·nāw,

at His presence ､

､ וְתֵבֵ֖ל

wə·ṯê·ḇêl

and Yes the world ､

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

and all

יֹ֥שְׁבֵי

yō·šə·ḇê

. בָֽהּ׃

ḇāh.

in it .

לִפְנֵ֤י

lip̄·nê

؟ זַעְמוֹ֙

za‘·mōw

His indignation ؟

מִ֣י

mî

יַֽעֲמ֔וֹד

ya·‘ă·mō·wḏ,

וּמִ֥י

ū·mî

and who

יָק֖וּם

yā·qūm

בַּחֲר֣וֹן

ba·ḥă·rō·wn

endure the fierceness

؟ אַפּ֑וֹ

’ap·pōw;

of His anger ؟

חֲמָתוֹ֙

ḥă·mā·ṯōw

נִתְּכָ֣ה

nit·tə·ḵāh

､ כָאֵ֔שׁ

ḵā·’êš,

וְהַצֻּרִ֖ים

wə·haṣ·ṣu·rîm

and the rocks

נִתְּצ֥וּ

nit·tə·ṣū

are thrown down

. מִמֶּֽנּוּ׃

mim·men·nū.

by Him .

､ ט֣וֹב

ṭō·wḇ

Good ､

יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

לְמָע֖וֹז

lə·mā·‘ō·wz

בְּי֣וֹם

bə·yō·wm

in the day

– צָרָ֑ה

ṣā·rāh;

of trouble –

וְיֹדֵ֖עַ

wə·yō·ḏê·a‘

and He knows

חֹ֥סֵי

ḥō·sê

those who trust

. בֽוֹ׃

ḇōw.

in Him .

וּבְשֶׁ֣טֶף

ū·ḇə·še·ṭep̄

But with flood

עֹבֵ֔ר

‘ō·ḇêr,

כָּלָ֖ה

kā·lāh

יַעֲשֶׂ֣ה

ya·‘ă·śeh

of He will make

מְקוֹמָ֑הּ

mə·qō·w·māh;

וְאֹיְבָ֖יו

wə·’ō·yə·ḇāw

and His enemies

יְרַדֶּף־

yə·rad·dep̄-

. חֹֽשֶׁךְ׃

ḥō·šeḵ

מַה־

mah-

תְּחַשְּׁבוּן֙

tə·ḥaš·šə·ḇūn

do you conspire

אֶל־

’el-

؟ יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

– כָּלָ֖ה

kā·lāh

an utter end [of it] –

ה֣וּא

hū

He

עֹשֶׂ֑ה

‘ō·śeh;

will make

לֹֽא־

lō-

not

תָק֥וּם

ṯā·qūm

will rise up

פַּעֲמַ֖יִם

pa·‘ă·ma·yim

. צָרָֽה׃

ṣā·rāh.

כִּ֚י

kî

עַד־

‘aḏ-

､ סִירִ֣ים

sî·rîm

[like] thorns ､

סְבֻכִ֔ים

sə·ḇu·ḵîm,

וּכְסָבְאָ֖ם

ū·ḵə·sā·ḇə·’ām

and while drunken

､ סְבוּאִ֑ים

sə·ḇū·’îm;

[like] drunkards ､

אֻ֨כְּל֔וּ

’uk·kə·lū,

they shall be devoured

כְּקַ֥שׁ

kə·qaš

יָבֵ֖שׁ

yā·ḇêš

. מָלֵֽא׃

mā·lê.

מִמֵּ֣ךְ

mim·mêḵ

יָצָ֔א

yā·ṣā,

comes forth [one]

חֹשֵׁ֥ב

ḥō·šêḇ

עַל־

‘al-

､ יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

רָעָ֑ה

rā·‘āh;

יֹעֵ֖ץ

yō·‘êṣ

. בְּלִיָּֽעַל׃

bə·lî·yā·‘al.

כֹּ֣ה ׀

אָמַ֣ר

’ā·mar

– יְהוָ֗ה

Yah·weh

אִם־

’im-

､ שְׁלֵמִים֙

šə·lê·mîm

[they are] safe ､

וְכֵ֣ן

wə·ḵên

､ רַבִּ֔ים

rab·bîm,

many ､

וְכֵ֥ן

wə·ḵên

and yet in this manner

､ נָגֹ֖זּוּ

nā·ḡōz·zū

they will be cut down ､

. וְעָבָ֑ר

wə·‘ā·ḇār;

and when he passes through .

וְעִ֨נִּתִ֔ךְ

wə·‘in·ni·ṯiḵ,

And Though I have afflicted you

לֹ֥א

lō

no

אֲעַנֵּ֖ךְ

’ă·‘an·nêḵ

I will afflict you

. עֽוֹד׃

‘ō·wḏ.

וְעַתָּ֕ה

wə·‘at·tāh

אֶשְׁבֹּ֥ר

’eš·bōr

I will break off

מֹטֵ֖הוּ

mō·ṭê·hū

מֵֽעָלָ֑יִךְ

mê·‘ā·lā·yiḵ;

וּמוֹסְרֹתַ֖יִךְ

ū·mō·ws·rō·ṯa·yiḵ

. אֲנַתֵּֽק׃

’ă·nat·têq.

וְצִוָּ֤ה

wə·ṣiw·wāh

And has given a command

עָלֶ֙יךָ֙

‘ā·le·ḵā

יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

לֹֽא־

lō-

no

. יִזָּרַ֥ע

yiz·zā·ra‘

shall be perpetuated .

מִשִּׁמְךָ֖

miš·šim·ḵā

ע֑וֹד

‘ō·wḏ;

מִבֵּ֨ית

mib·bêṯ

Out of the house

אֱלֹהֶ֜יךָ

’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā

אַכְרִ֨ית

’aḵ·rîṯ

I will cut off

פֶּ֧סֶל

pe·sel

the carved image

– וּמַסֵּכָ֛ה

ū·mas·sê·ḵāh

and the molded image –

אָשִׂ֥ים

’ā·śîm

I will dig

– קִבְרֶ֖ךָ

qiḇ·re·ḵā

כִּ֥י

kî

. קַלּֽוֹתָ׃

qal·lō·w·ṯā.

הִנֵּ֨ה

hin·nêh

עַל־

‘al-

on

הֶהָרִ֜ים

he·hā·rîm

רַגְלֵ֤י

raḡ·lê

the feet

､ מְבַשֵּׂר֙

mə·ḇaś·śêr

of him who brings good tidings ､

מַשְׁמִ֣יעַ

maš·mî·a‘

! שָׁל֔וֹם

šā·lō·wm,

חָגִּ֧י

ḥāg·gî

､ יְהוּדָ֛ה

yə·hū·ḏāh

､ חַגַּ֖יִךְ

ḥag·ga·yiḵ

your [appointed] feasts ､

שַׁלְּמִ֣י

šal·lə·mî

. נְדָרָ֑יִךְ

nə·ḏā·rā·yiḵ;

כִּי֩

kî

לֹ֨א

lō

no

יוֹסִ֥יף

yō·w·sîp̄

ע֛וֹד

‘ō·wḏ

[לעבור־]

la·‘ă·ḇō·wr-

-

(לַֽעֲבָר־)

la·‘ă·ḇār-

shall pass through

בָּ֥ךְ

bāḵ

בְּלִיַּ֖עַל

bə·lî·ya·‘al

כֻּלֹּ֥ה

kul·lōh

. נִכְרָֽת׃

niḵ·rāṯ.

He is cut off .
