אֹהֵ֣ב

’ō·hêḇ

מ֭וּסָר‪‬

mū·sār

אֹ֣הֵֽב

’ō·hêḇ

､ דָּ֑עַת

dā·‘aṯ;

וְשֹׂנֵ֖א

wə·śō·nê

but he who hates

תוֹכַ֣חַת

ṯō·w·ḵa·ḥaṯ

. בָּֽעַר׃

bā·‘ar.

[is] stupid .

ט֗וֹב

ṭō·wḇ,

יָפִ֣יק

yā·p̄îq

רָ֭צוֹן

rā·ṣō·wn

מֵיְהוָ֑ה

Yah·weh;

וְאִ֖ישׁ

wə·’îš

but a man

מְזִמּ֣וֹת

mə·zim·mō·wṯ

of wicked intentions

. יַרְשִֽׁיעַ׃

yar·šî·a‘.

He will condemn .

לֹא־

lō-

Not

יִכּ֣וֹן

yik·kō·wn

אָדָ֣ם

’ā·ḏām

､ בְּרֶ֑שַׁע

bə·re·ša‘;

by wickedness ､

וְשֹׁ֥רֶשׁ

wə·šō·reš

but the root

צַ֝דִּיקִ֗ים

ṣad·dî·qîm,

of the righteous

בַּל־

bal-

. יִמּֽוֹט׃

yim·mō·wṭ.

be moved .

אֵֽשֶׁת־

’ê·šeṯ-

An wife [is]

חַ֭יִל

ḥa·yil

עֲטֶ֣רֶת

‘ă·ṭe·reṯ

､ בַּעְלָ֑הּ

ba‘·lāh;

of her husband ､

וּכְרָקָ֖ב

ū·ḵə·rā·qāḇ

but like rottenness

בְּעַצְמוֹתָ֣יו

bə·‘aṣ·mō·w·ṯāw

. מְבִישָֽׁה׃

mə·ḇî·šāh.

she who causes shame [is] .

מַחְשְׁב֣וֹת

maḥ·šə·ḇō·wṯ

צַדִּיקִ֣ים

ṣad·dî·qîm

of the righteous

､ מִשְׁפָּ֑ט

miš·pāṭ;

[are] right ､

תַּחְבֻּל֖וֹת

taḥ·bu·lō·wṯ

[But] the counsels

רְשָׁעִ֣ים

rə·šā·‘îm

of the wicked

. מִרְמָֽה׃

mir·māh.

[are] deceitful .

דִּבְרֵ֣י

diḇ·rê

רְשָׁעִ֣ים

rə·šā·‘îm

of the wicked

אֱרָב־

’ĕ·rāḇ-

[are] Lie in wait

､ דָּ֑ם

dām;

וּפִ֥י

ū·p̄î

but the mouth

יְ֝שָׁרִ֗ים

yə·šā·rîm,

of the upright

. יַצִּילֵֽם׃

yaṣ·ṣî·lêm.

will deliver them .

､ הָפ֣וֹךְ

hā·p̄ō·wḵ

Are overthrown ､

רְשָׁעִ֣ים

rə·šā·‘îm

– וְאֵינָ֑ם

wə·’ê·nām;

and [are] no more –

וּבֵ֖ית

ū·ḇêṯ

but the house

צַדִּיקִ֣ים

ṣad·dî·qîm

of the righteous

. יַעֲמֹֽד׃

ya·‘ă·mōḏ.

will stand .

לְֽפִי־

lə·p̄î·śi-

､ שִׂ֭כְלוֹ

ḵə·lōw

יְהֻלַּל־

yə·hul·lal-

will be commended

אִ֑ישׁ

’îš;

וְנַעֲוֵה־

wə·na·‘ă·wêh-

but he who is of a perverse

לֵ֝֗ב

lêḇ,

יִהְיֶ֥ה

yih·yeh

will be

. לָבֽוּז׃

lā·ḇūz.

ט֣וֹב

ṭō·wḇ

､ נִ֭קְלֶה

niq·leh

[the one] who is slighted ､

､ וְעֶ֣בֶד

wə·‘e·ḇeḏ

but has a servant ､

ל֑וֹ

lōw;

to

､ מִ֝מְּתַכַּבֵּ֗ד

mim·mə·ṯak·kab·bêḏ,

Than he who honors himself ､

וַחֲסַר־

wa·ḥă·sar-

but is lacking

. לָֽחֶם׃

lā·ḥem.

יוֹדֵ֣עַ

yō·w·ḏê·a‘

צַ֭דִּיק

ṣad·dîq

a righteous [man]

נֶ֣פֶשׁ

ne·p̄eš

the life

､ בְּהֶמְתּ֑וֹ

bə·hem·tōw;

of his animal ､

וְֽרַחֲמֵ֥י

wə·ra·ḥă·mê

but the tender mercies

רְ֝שָׁעִ֗ים

rə·šā·‘îm,

of the wicked

. אַכְזָרִֽי׃

’aḵ·zā·rî.

עֹבֵ֣ד

‘ō·ḇêḏ

אַ֭דְמָתוֹ

’aḏ·mā·ṯōw

יִֽשְׂבַּֽע־

yiś·ba‘-

will be satisfied

､ לָ֑חֶם

lā·ḥem;

with bread ､

וּמְרַדֵּ֖ף

ū·mə·rad·dêp̄

but he who follows

רֵיקִ֣ים

rê·qîm

חֲסַר־

ḥă·sar-

. לֵֽב׃

lêḇ.

understanding .

חָמַ֣ד

ḥā·maḏ

רָ֭שָׁע

rā·šā‘

מְצ֣וֹד

mə·ṣō·wḏ

רָעִ֑ים

rā·‘îm;

וְשֹׁ֖רֶשׁ

wə·šō·reš

but the root

צַדִּיקִ֣ים

ṣad·dî·qîm

of the righteous

. יִתֵּֽן׃

yit·tên.

yields [fruit] .

בְּפֶ֣שַׁע

bə·p̄e·ša‘

By the transgression

､ שְׂ֭פָתַיִם

p̄ā·ṯa·yim

of [his] lips ､

מוֹקֵ֣שׁ

mō·w·qêš

רָ֑ע

rā‘;

וַיֵּצֵ֖א

way·yê·ṣê

but will come

מִצָּרָ֣ה

miṣ·ṣā·rāh

through trouble

. צַדִּֽיק׃

ṣad·dîq.

the righteous .

מִפְּרִ֣י

mip·pə·rî

By the fruit

､ פִי־

p̄î-

of [his] mouth ､

אִ֭ישׁ

’îš

יִשְׂבַּע־

yiś·ba‘-

will be satisfied

ט֑וֹב

ṭō·wḇ;

with good

וּגְמ֥וּל

ū·ḡə·mūl

and the recompense

יְדֵי־

yə·ḏê-

אָ֝דָ֗ם

’ā·ḏām,

of a man

[ישוב]

yā·šūḇ

-

(יָשִׁ֥יב)

yā·šîḇ

will be rendered

. לֽוֹ׃

lōw.

to him .

דֶּ֣רֶךְ

de·reḵ

The way

אֱ֭וִיל

’ĕ·wîl

of a fool

יָשָׁ֣ר

yā·šār

[is] right

､ בְּעֵינָ֑יו

bə·‘ê·nāw;

in his own eyes ､

וְשֹׁמֵ֖עַ

wə·šō·mê·a‘

but he who heeds

לְעֵצָ֣ה

lə·‘ê·ṣāh

. חָכָֽם׃

ḥā·ḵām.

[is] wise .

אֱוִ֗יל

’ĕ·wîl,

Of a fool

בַּ֭יּוֹם

bay·yō·wm

– יִוָּדַ֣ע

yiw·wā·ḏa‘

is known –

כַּעְס֑וֹ

ka‘·sōw;

וְכֹסֶ֖ה

wə·ḵō·seh

קָל֣וֹן

qā·lō·wn

. עָרֽוּם׃

‘ā·rūm.

a prudent [man] .

יָפִ֣יחַ

yā·p̄î·aḥ

He [who] speaks

אֱ֭מוּנָה

’ĕ·mū·nāh

יַגִּ֣יד

yag·gîḏ

– צֶ֑דֶק

ṣe·ḏeq;

righteousness –

וְעֵ֖ד

wə·‘êḏ

שְׁקָרִ֣ים

šə·qā·rîm

. מִרְמָֽה׃

mir·māh.

יֵ֣שׁ

yêš

בּ֭וֹטֶה

bō·w·ṭeh

כְּמַדְקְר֣וֹת

kə·maḏ·qə·rō·wṯ

like the piercings

､ חָ֑רֶב

ḥā·reḇ;

of a sword ､

וּלְשׁ֖וֹן

ū·lə·šō·wn

but the tongue

חֲכָמִ֣ים

ḥă·ḵā·mîm

of the wise

. מַרְפֵּֽא׃

mar·pê.

[promotes] health .

שְֽׂפַת־

śə·p̄aṯ-

The lip

אֱ֭מֶת

’ĕ·meṯ

תִּכּ֣וֹן

tik·kō·wn

shall be established

､ לָעַ֑ד

lā·‘aḏ;

וְעַד־

wə·‘aḏ-

but but for

אַ֝רְגִּ֗יעָה

’ar·gî·‘āh,

לְשׁ֣וֹן

lə·šō·wn

a tongue [is]

. שָֽׁקֶר׃

šā·qer.

מִ֭רְמָה

mir·māh

בְּלֶב־

bə·leḇ-

in the heart

חֹ֣רְשֵׁי

ḥō·rə·šê

of those who devise

､ רָ֑ע

rā‘;

evil ､

וּֽלְיֹעֲצֵ֖י

ū·lə·yō·‘ă·ṣê

שָׁל֣וֹם

šā·lō·wm

. שִׂמְחָֽה׃

śim·ḥāh.

לֹא־

lō-

יְאֻנֶּ֣ה

yə·’un·neh

､ לַצַּדִּ֣יק

laṣ·ṣad·dîq

the righteous ､

כָּל־

kāl-

אָ֑וֶן

’ā·wen;

[grave] trouble

וּ֝רְשָׁעִ֗ים

ū·rə·šā·‘îm,

but the wicked

מָ֣לְאוּ

mā·lə·’ū

shall be filled

. רָֽע׃

rā‘.

with evil .

תּוֹעֲבַ֣ת

tō·w·‘ă·ḇaṯ

､ יְ֭הוָה

Yah·weh

to Yahweh ､

שִׂפְתֵי־

śip̄·ṯê-

שָׁ֑קֶר

šā·qer;

וְעֹשֵׂ֖י

wə·‘ō·śê

but those who deal

אֱמוּנָ֣ה

’ĕ·mū·nāh

. רְצוֹנֽוֹ׃

rə·ṣō·w·nōw.

[are] His delight .

אָדָ֣ם

’ā·ḏām

עָ֭רוּם

‘ā·rūm

כֹּ֣סֶה

kō·seh

､ דָּ֑עַת

dā·‘aṯ;

וְלֵ֥ב

wə·lêḇ

but the heart

כְּ֝סִילִ֗ים

kə·sî·lîm,

יִקְרָ֥א

yiq·rā

. אִוֶּֽלֶת׃

’iw·we·leṯ.

יַד־

yaḏ-

The hand

חָרוּצִ֥ים

ḥā·rū·ṣîm

of the diligent

､ תִּמְשׁ֑וֹל

tim·šō·wl;

will rule ､

ו֝רְמִיָּ֗ה‪‬‪‬

ū·rə·mî·yāh,

but the lazy [man]

תִּהְיֶ֥ה

tih·yeh

will be put

. לָמַֽס׃

lā·mas.

to forced labor .

דְּאָגָ֣ה

də·’ā·ḡāh

בְלֶב־

ḇə·leḇ-

in the heart

אִ֣ישׁ

’îš

of man

– יַשְׁחֶ֑נָּה

yaš·ḥen·nāh;

causes depression –

וְדָבָ֖ר

wə·ḏā·ḇār

but a word

ט֣וֹב

ṭō·wḇ

. יְשַׂמְּחֶֽנָּה׃

yə·śam·mə·ḥen·nāh.

makes it glad .

יָתֵ֣ר

yā·ṯêr

Should choose carefully

､ מֵרֵעֵ֣הוּ

mê·rê·‘ê·hū

his friends ､

צַדִּ֑יק

ṣad·dîq;

וְדֶ֖רֶךְ

wə·ḏe·reḵ

רְשָׁעִ֣ים

rə·šā·‘îm

of the wicked

. תַּתְעֵֽם׃

taṯ·‘êm.

leads them astray .

לֹא־

lō-

Not

יַחֲרֹ֣ךְ

ya·ḥă·rōḵ

רְמִיָּ֣ה

rə·mî·yāh

the lazy [man]

､ צֵיד֑וֹ

ṣê·ḏōw;

what he [took] in hunting ､

וְהוֹן־

wə·hō·wn-

אָדָ֖ם

’ā·ḏām

יָקָ֣ר

yā·qār

. חָרֽוּץ׃

ḥā·rūṣ.

diligence [is] .

בְּאֹֽרַח־

bə·’ō·raḥ-

In the way

צְדָקָ֥ה

ṣə·ḏā·qāh

of righteousness

– חַיִּ֑ים

ḥay·yîm;

[is] life –

וְדֶ֖רֶךְ

wə·ḏe·reḵ

and

נְתִיבָ֣ה

nə·ṯî·ḇāh

in [its] pathway

אַל־

’al-

[there is] no

. מָֽוֶת׃‪‬

mā·weṯ.
