Trust in the Lord

､ בְּ֭נִי

My son ､

– תּוֹרָתִ֣י

tō·w·rā·ṯî

my law –

אַל־

’al-

not

תִּשְׁכָּ֑ח

tiš·kāḥ;

– וּ֝מִצְוֺתַ֗י

ū·miṣ·wō·ṯay,

but my commands –

יִצֹּ֥ר

yiṣ·ṣōr

. לִבֶּֽךָ׃

lib·be·ḵā.

כִּ֤י

kî

אֹ֣רֶךְ

’ō·reḵ

､ יָ֭מִים

yā·mîm

of days ､

וּשְׁנ֣וֹת

ū·šə·nō·wṯ

and long

､ חַיִּ֑ים

ḥay·yîm;

life ､

､ וְ֝שָׁל֗וֹם

wə·šā·lō·wm,

and peace ､

יוֹסִ֥יפוּ

yō·w·sî·p̄ū

. לָֽךְ׃

lāḵ.

to you .

חֶ֥סֶד

ḥe·seḏ

וֶאֱמֶ֗ת

we·’ĕ·meṯ,

אַֽל־

’al-

not

יַעַ֫זְבֻ֥ךָ

ya·‘az·ḇu·ḵā

let forsake you

קָשְׁרֵ֥ם

qā·šə·rêm

עַל־

‘al-

– גַּרְגְּרוֹתֶ֑יךָ

gar·gə·rō·w·ṯe·ḵā;

כָּ֝תְבֵ֗ם

kā·ṯə·ḇêm,

עַל־

‘al-

on

ל֥וּחַ

lū·aḥ

. לִבֶּֽךָ׃

lib·be·ḵā.

of your heart .

וּמְצָא־

ū·mə·ṣā-

And [And] so find

חֵ֖ן

ḥên

וְשֵֽׂכֶל־

wə·śê·ḵel-

ט֑וֹב

ṭō·wḇ;

בְּעֵינֵ֖י

bə·‘ê·nê

in the sight

אֱלֹהִ֣ים

’ĕ·lō·hîm

of God

. וְאָדָֽם׃

wə·’ā·ḏām.

and man .

bə·ṭaḥ

אֶל־

’el-

in

יְ֭הוָה

Yah·weh

בְּכָל־

bə·ḵāl

with all

– לִבֶּ֑ךָ

lib·be·ḵā;

וְאֶל־

wə·’el-

and on

בִּֽ֝ינָתְךָ֗

bî·nā·ṯə·ḵā,

your own understanding

אַל־

’al-

not

. תִּשָּׁעֵֽן׃

tiš·šā·‘ên.

בְּכָל־

bə·ḵāl

In all

דְּרָכֶ֥יךָ

də·rā·ḵe·ḵā

דָעֵ֑הוּ

ḏā·‘ê·hū;

acknowledge Him

וְ֝ה֗וּא

wə·hū,

and He

יְיַשֵּׁ֥ר

yə·yaš·šêr

. אֹֽרְחֹתֶֽיךָ׃

’ō·rə·ḥō·ṯe·ḵā.

אַל־

’al-

Not

תְּהִ֣י

tə·hî

do be

חָכָ֣ם

ḥā·ḵām

– בְּעֵינֶ֑יךָ

bə·‘ê·ne·ḵā;

in your own eyes –

יְרָ֥א

yə·rā

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

יְ֝הוָ֗ה

Yah·weh

וְס֣וּר

wə·sūr

. מֵרָֽע׃

mê·rā‘.

רִ֭פְאוּת

rip̄·’ūṯ

תְּהִ֣י

tə·hî

it will be

､ לְשָׁרֶּ֑ךָ

lə·šār·re·ḵā;

to your flesh ､

וְ֝שִׁקּ֗וּי

wə·šiq·qui,

. לְעַצְמוֹתֶֽיךָ׃

lə·‘aṣ·mō·w·ṯe·ḵā.

to your bones .

כַּבֵּ֣ד

kab·bêḏ

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

יְ֭הוָה

Yah·weh

､ מֵהוֹנֶ֑ךָ

mê·hō·w·ne·ḵā;

with your possessions ､

וּ֝מֵרֵאשִׁ֗ית

ū·mê·rê·šîṯ,

and with the firstfruits

כָּל־

kāl-

of all

– תְּבוּאָתֶֽךָ׃

tə·ḇū·’ā·ṯe·ḵā.

your increase –

וְיִמָּלְא֣וּ

wə·yim·mā·lə·’ū

so will be filled

אֲסָמֶ֣יךָ

’ă·sā·me·ḵā

､ שָׂבָ֑ע

śā·ḇā‘;

with plenty ､

. וְ֝תִיר֗וֹשׁ

wə·ṯî·rō·wōš,

and with new wine .

יְקָבֶ֥יךָ

yə·qā·ḇe·ḵā

. יִפְרֹֽצוּ׃

yip̄·rō·ṣū.

will overflow .

mū·sar

– יְ֭הוָה

Yah·weh

of Yahweh –

､ בְּנִ֣י

bə·nî

My son ､

אַל־

’al-

not

תִּמְאָ֑ס

tim·’ās;

וְאַל־

wə·’al-

תָּ֝קֹ֗ץ

tā·qōṣ,

､ בְּתוֹכַחְתּֽוֹ׃

bə·ṯō·w·ḵaḥ·tōw.

His correction ､

יְהוָ֣ה

– יוֹכִ֑יחַ

He corrects –

וּ֝כְאָ֗ב

ū·ḵə·’āḇ,

and just as a father

אֶת־

’eṯ-

בֵּ֥ן

bên

the son

. יִרְצֶֽה׃

yir·ṣeh.

[in whom] he delights .

Blessed is He who Finds Wisdom

אַשְׁרֵ֣י

’aš·rê

אָ֭דָם

’ā·ḏām

[is] the man

מָצָ֣א

mā·ṣā

､ חָכְמָ֑ה

ḥāḵ·māh

וְ֝אָדָ֗ם

wə·’ā·ḏām,

and the man

יָפִ֥יק

yā·p̄îq

. תְּבוּנָֽה׃

tə·ḇū·nāh.

understanding .

כִּ֤י

kî

ט֣וֹב

ṭō·wḇ

סַ֭חְרָהּ

saḥ·rāh

her proceeds [are]

מִסְּחַר־

mis·sə·ḥar-

than the profits

､ כָּ֑סֶף

kā·sep̄;

of silver ､

וּ֝מֵחָר֗וּץ

ū·mê·ḥā·rūṣ,

and than fine gold

. תְּבוּאָתָֽהּ׃

tə·ḇū·’ā·ṯāh.

יְקָ֣רָה

yə·qā·rāh

הִ֭יא

hî

she [is]

[מפניים]

mip·pə·nî·yîm

-

– (מִפְּנִינִ֑ים)

mip·pə·nî·nîm;

than rubies –

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

and all

חֲ֝פָצֶ֗יךָ

ḥă·p̄ā·ṣe·ḵā,

the [things] you may desire

לֹ֣א

lō

יִֽשְׁווּ־

yiš·wū-

. בָֽהּ׃

ḇāh.

with her .

אֹ֣רֶךְ

’ō·reḵ

יָ֭מִים

yā·mîm

– בִּֽימִינָ֑הּ

bî·mî·nāh;

[is] in her right hand –

בִּ֝שְׂמֹאולָ֗הּ

biś·mō·w·lāh,

in her left hand

עֹ֣שֶׁר

‘ō·šer

. וְכָבֽוֹד׃

wə·ḵā·ḇō·wḏ.

and honor .

דְּרָכֶ֥יהָ

də·rā·ḵe·hā

דַרְכֵי־

ḏar·ḵê-

､ נֹ֑עַם

nō·‘am;

of pleasantness ､

וְֽכָל־

wə·ḵāl

and all

נְתִ֖יבוֹתֶ֣יהָ

nə·ṯî·ḇō·w·ṯe·hā

her paths [are]

. שָׁלֽוֹם׃

šā·lō·wm.

עֵץ־

‘êṣ-

חַיִּ֣ים

ḥay·yîm

הִ֭יא

hî

she [is]

לַמַּחֲזִיקִ֣ים

lam·ma·ḥă·zî·qîm

to those who take hold

בָּ֑הּ

bāh;

of her

וְֽתֹמְכֶ֥יהָ

wə·ṯō·mə·ḵe·hā

and [all] who retain her

. מְאֻשָּֽׁר׃

mə·’uš·šār.

Yah·weh

בְּחָכְמָ֥ה

bə·ḥā·ḵə·māh

יָֽסַד־

yā·saḏ-

– אָ֑רֶץ

’ā·reṣ;

the earth –

כּוֹנֵ֥ן

kō·w·nên

שָׁ֝מַ֗יִם

ma·yim,

. בִּתְבוּנָֽה׃

biṯ·ḇū·nāh.

by understanding .

בְּ֭דַעְתּוֹ

bə·ḏa‘·tōw

By His knowledge

תְּהוֹמ֣וֹת

tə·hō·w·mō·wṯ

､ נִבְקָ֑עוּ

niḇ·qā·‘ū;

were broken up ､

וּ֝שְׁחָקִ֗ים

ū·šə·ḥā·qîm,

יִרְעֲפוּ־

yir·‘ă·p̄ū-

. טָֽל׃

ṭāl.

the dew .

､ בְּ֭נִי

bə·nî

My son ､

אַל־

’al-

not

יָלֻ֣זוּ

yā·lu·zū

let them depart

– מֵעֵינֶ֑יךָ

mê·‘ê·ne·ḵā;

from your eyes –

נְצֹ֥ר

nə·ṣōr

תֻּ֝שִׁיָּ֗ה

tu·šî·yāh,

､ וּמְזִמָּֽה׃

ū·mə·zim·māh.

and discretion ､

וְיִֽהְי֣וּ

wə·yih·yū

so they will be

חַיִּ֣ים

ḥay·yîm

､ לְנַפְשֶׁ֑ךָ

lə·nap̄·še·ḵā;

to your soul ､

וְ֝חֵ֗ן

wə·ḥên,

. לְגַרְגְּרֹתֶֽיךָ׃

lə·ḡar·gə·rō·ṯe·ḵā.

אָ֤ז

’āz

תֵּלֵ֣ךְ

tê·lêḵ

､ לָבֶ֣טַח

lā·ḇe·ṭaḥ

דַּרְכֶּ֑ךָ

dar·ke·ḵā;

וְ֝רַגְלְךָ֗

wə·raḡ·lə·ḵā,

לֹ֣א

lō

not

. תִגּֽוֹף׃

ṯig·gō·wp̄.

will stumble .

אִם־

’im-

､ תִּשְׁכַּ֥ב

tiš·kaḇ

you lie down ､

לֹֽא־

lō-

not

– תִפְחָ֑ד

ṯip̄·ḥāḏ;

you will be afraid –

､ וְ֝שָׁכַבְתָּ֗

wə·šā·ḵaḇ·tā,

and Yes you will lie down ､

וְֽעָרְבָ֥ה

wə·‘ā·rə·ḇāh

and will be sweet

. שְׁנָתֶֽךָ׃

šə·nā·ṯe·ḵā.

אַל־

’al-

Not

תִּ֭ירָא

tî·rā

do be afraid

､ מִפַּ֣חַד

mip·pa·ḥaḏ

of terror ､

פִּתְאֹ֑ם

piṯ·’ōm;

וּמִשֹּׁאַ֥ת

ū·miš·šō·’aṯ

nor of trouble from

､ רְ֝שָׁעִ֗ים

rə·šā·‘îm,

the wicked ､

כִּ֣י

kî

. תָבֹֽא׃

ṯā·ḇō.

it comes .

כִּֽי־

kî-

יְ֭הוָה

Yah·weh

יִהְיֶ֣ה

yih·yeh

will be

､ בְכִסְלֶ֑ךָ

ḇə·ḵis·le·ḵā;

your confidence ､

וְשָׁמַ֖ר

wə·šā·mar

and will keep

רַגְלְךָ֣

raḡ·lə·ḵā

. מִלָּֽכֶד׃

mil·lā·ḵeḏ.

from [being] caught .

אַל־

’al-

Not

תִּמְנַע־

tim·na‘-

ט֥וֹב

ṭō·wḇ

､ מִבְּעָלָ֑יו

mib·bə·‘ā·lāw;

from those to whom it is due ､

בִּהְי֨וֹת

bih·yō·wṯ

when it is

לְאֵ֖ל

lə·’êl

in the power

[ידיך]

yā·ḏe·ḵā

-

(יָדְךָ֣)

yā·ḏə·ḵā

. לַעֲשֽׂוֹת׃

la·‘ă·śō·wṯ.

to do [so] .

אַל־

’al-

Not

תֹּ֘אמַ֤ר

tō·mar

do say

[לרעיך]

lə·rê·‘e·ḵā

-

､ (לְרֵֽעֲךָ֨ ׀)

lə·rê·‘ă·ḵā

to your neighbor ､

､ לֵ֣ךְ

lêḵ

do ､

､ וָ֭שׁוּב

wā·šūḇ

and come back ､

וּמָחָ֥ר

ū·mā·ḥār

– אֶתֵּ֗ן

’et·tên,

I will give [it] –

וְיֵ֣שׁ

wə·yêš

and when [you have] it

. אִתָּֽךְ׃

’it·tāḵ.

with you .

אַל־

’al-

Not

תַּחֲרֹ֣שׁ

ta·ḥă·rōš

עַל־

‘al-

､ רֵעֲךָ֣

rê·‘ă·ḵā

your neighbor ､

רָעָ֑ה

rā·‘āh;

וְהֽוּא־

wə·hū-

for he

יוֹשֵׁ֖ב

yō·wō·šêḇ

לָבֶ֣טַח

lā·ḇe·ṭaḥ

for safety's sake

. אִתָּֽךְ׃

’it·tāḵ.

by you .

אַל־

’al-

Not

[תרוב]

tā·rō·wḇ

(תָּרִ֣יב)

tā·rîḇ

עִם־

‘im-

with

אָדָ֣ם

’ā·ḏām

､ חִנָּ֑ם

ḥin·nām;

without cause ､

אִם־

’im-

if

לֹ֖א

גְמָלְךָ֣

ḡə·mā·lə·ḵā

he has done you

. רָעָֽה׃

rā·‘āh.

אַל־

’al-

Not

תְּ֭קַנֵּא

tə·qan·nê

בְּאִ֣ישׁ

bə·’îš

､ חָמָ֑ס

ḥā·mās;

the oppressor ､

וְאַל־

wə·’al-

and none

תִּ֝בְחַ֗ר

tiḇ·ḥar,

בְּכָל־

bə·ḵāl

of

. דְּרָכָֽיו׃

də·rā·ḵāw.

כִּ֤י

kî

תוֹעֲבַ֣ת

ṯō·w·‘ă·ḇaṯ

an abomination to

– יְהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

נָל֑וֹז

nā·lō·wz;

the perverse [person is]

וְֽאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

but

יְשָׁרִ֥ים

yə·šā·rîm

with the upright

. סוֹדֽוֹ׃

sō·w·ḏōw.

His secret counsel [is] .

מְאֵרַ֣ת

mə·’ê·raṯ

יְ֭הוָה

Yah·weh

בְּבֵ֣ית

bə·ḇêṯ

[is] on the house

､ רָשָׁ֑ע

rā·šā‘;

of the wicked ､

וּנְוֵ֖ה

ū·nə·wêh

but the home

צַדִּיקִ֣ים

ṣad·dî·qîm

of the just

. יְבָרֵֽךְ׃

yə·ḇā·rêḵ.

אִם־

’im-

לַלֵּצִ֥ים

lal·lê·ṣîm

הֽוּא־

hū-

He

– יָלִ֑יץ

yā·lîṣ;

[ולעניים]

wə·la·‘ă·nî·yîm

-

(וְ֝לַעֲנָוִ֗ים)

wə·la·‘ă·nā·wîm,

but to the humble

יִתֶּן־

yit·ten-

. חֵֽן׃

ḥên.

､ כָּ֭בוֹד

kā·ḇō·wḏ

חֲכָמִ֣ים

ḥă·ḵā·mîm

the wise

יִנְחָ֑לוּ

yin·ḥā·lū;

. וּ֝כְסִילִ֗ים

ū·ḵə·sî·lîm,

but fools .

מֵרִ֥ים

mê·rîm

Shall be the legacy

. קָלֽוֹן׃

qā·lō·wn.

of shame .
