'Chief Priests' in the Bible
After assembling all the chief priests and experts in the law, he asked them where the Christ was to be born.
From that time on Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, chief priests, and experts in the law, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.
"Look, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the experts in the law. They will condemn him to death,
But when the chief priests and the experts in the law saw the wonderful things he did and heard the children crying out in the temple courts, "Hosanna to the Son of David," they became indignant
Now after Jesus entered the temple courts, the chief priests and elders of the people came up to him as he was teaching and said, "By what authority are you doing these things, and who gave you this authority?"
When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they realized that he was speaking about them.
Then the chief priests and the elders of the people met together in the palace of the high priest, who was named Caiaphas.
Then one of the twelve, the one named Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests
While he was still speaking, Judas, one of the twelve, arrived. With him was a large crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent by the chief priests and elders of the people.
The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were trying to find false testimony against Jesus so that they could put him to death.
When it was early in the morning, all the chief priests and the elders of the people plotted against Jesus to execute him.
Now when Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus had been condemned, he regretted what he had done and returned the thirty silver coins to the chief priests and the elders,
The chief priests took the silver and said, "It is not lawful to put this into the temple treasury, since it is blood money."
But when he was accused by the chief priests and the elders, he did not respond.
But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowds to ask for Barabbas and to have Jesus killed.
In the same way even the chief priests -- together with the experts in the law and elders -- were mocking him:
The next day (which is after the day of preparation) the chief priests and the Pharisees assembled before Pilate
While they were going, some of the guard went into the city and told the chief priests everything that had happened.
