'O God' in the Bible
Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by God’s will, and Timothy our brother:To God’s church at Corinth, with all the saints who are throughout Achaia.
You at the same time helping together by your prayer for us; so that for what has been given to us through a number of persons, praise may go up to God for us from all of them.
For whatever promises of God there are, in him is the yea, and in him the amen, for glory to God by us.
But as for me, as my soul shall answer for it, I appeal to God as my witness, that it was to spare you pain that I gave up my visit to Corinth.
Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.
For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:
At least we are not commercializing God's word like so many others. Instead, we speak with sincerity in the Messiah's name, like people who are sent from God and are accountable to God.
And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward:
But we have this treasure in a fragile vase of clay, in order that the surpassing greatness of the power may be seen to belong to God, and not to originate in us.
We know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus will also raise us with Jesus and present us to God together with you.
Indeed, everything is for your benefit, so that grace, extended through more and more people, may cause thanksgiving to increase to God’s glory.
for we walk by faith, not by sight [living our lives in a manner consistent with our confident belief in God’s promises]—
Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.
For whether we be beside ourselves, it is to God: or whether we be sober, it is for your cause.
Now this is all owing to God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath made us the ministers of this reconciliation;
Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
So, since we have such promises as these, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that defiles our bodies and spirits, and in reverence to God carry on our consecration to completeness.
Now I rejoice, not that ye have been grieved, but that ye have been grieved to repentance; for ye have been grieved according to God, that in nothing ye might be injured by us.
For grief according to God works repentance to salvation, never to be regretted; but the grief of the world works death.
For, behold, this same thing, your being grieved according to God, how much diligence it wrought in you, but what excusing of yourselves, but what indignation, but what fear, but what ardent desire, but what zeal, but what vengeance: in every way ye have proved yourselves to be pure in the matter.
With earnest entreaty they begged from us the favour of being allowed to share in the service now being rendered to God's people.
They not only did this, as we had expected, but first of all in obedience to God's will they gave their own selves to the Lord and to us.
But thanks be to God, which put the same earnest care into the heart of Titus for you.
always considering what is virtuous, with respect to God, and with respect to men.
As to the services which are being rendered to God's people, it is really unnecessary for me to write to you.
He who furnishes the sower with seed and with bread to eat will supply seed for you and multiply it; he will increase the crop of your charities ??11 you will be enriched on all hands, so that you can be generous on all occasions, and your generosity, of which I am the agent, will make men give thanks to God;
Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.
For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God;
For when, through this work of giving, they see what you are, they give glory to God for the way in which you have given yourselves to the good news of Christ, and for the wealth of your giving to them and to all;
And in their prayers to God for you, long after you, for the abundant grace of God given unto you.
Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.
For the arms of our warfare are not fleshly, but powerful according to God to the overthrow of strongholds;
Would to God ye could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me.
Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.
For we [apostles] have no power [to act] against the truth, but [only] for the truth. [Note: Paul here alludes to his gifts and ministry being intended only to promote what was right according to God's truth].
