'Righteous Man' in the Bible
These are the records of the generations (family history) of Noah. Noah was a righteous man [one who was just and had right standing with God], blameless in his [evil] generation; Noah walked (lived) [in habitual fellowship] with God.
Let the righteous [thoughtfully] strike (correct) me—it is a kindness [done to encourage my spiritual maturity].It is [the choicest anointing] oil on the head;Let my head not refuse [to accept and acknowledge and learn from] it;For still my prayer is against their wicked deeds.
Give instruction to a wise man and he will become even wiser;Teach a righteous man and he will increase his learning.
The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life and his words of wisdom are a source of blessing,But the mouth of the wicked conceals violence and evil.
A righteous man has kind regard for the life of his animal,But even the compassion of the wicked is cruel.
The righteous man is a guide to his neighbor,But the way of the wicked leads them astray.
A righteous man hates lies,But a wicked man is loathsome, and he acts shamefully.
The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous runs to it and is safe and set on high [far above evil].
The righteous man who walks in integrity and lives life in accord with his [godly] beliefs—How blessed [happy and spiritually secure] are his children after him [who have his example to follow].
The righteous one keeps an eye on the house of the wicked—How the wicked are cast down to ruin.
For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises again,But the wicked stumble in time of disaster and collapse.
Like a muddied fountain and a polluted springIs a righteous man who yields and compromises his integrity before the wicked.
By his wicked plan an evil man is trapped,But the righteous man sings and rejoices [for his plan brings good things to him].
The righteous man cares for the rights of the poor,But the wicked man has no interest in such knowledge.
I have seen everything during my [fleeting] days of futility; there is a righteous man who perishes in [spite of] his righteousness, and there is a wicked man who lives a long life in [spite of] his wickedness.
Indeed, there is not a righteous man on earth who always does good and who never sins.
Let the wicked leave (behind) his wayAnd the unrighteous man his thoughts; And let him return to the Lord,And He will have compassion (mercy) on him,And to our God,For He will abundantly pardon.
The righteous man perishes [at the hand of evil], and no one takes it to heart;Faithful and devout men are taken away, while no one understandsThat the righteous person is taken away [to be spared] from disaster and evil.
Again, when a righteous man turns from his righteousness (right standing with God) and sins, and I place an obstacle before him, he will die; since you have not warned him, he will die in his sin, and the righteous deeds which he has done will not be remembered; but you will be responsible for his blood.
However, if you have warned the righteous man not to sin and he does not sin, he will surely live because he took warning; also you have freed yourself [from responsibility].”
(though the father did not do any of these things), that is, the son even eats [the food set before idols] at the mountain shrines, and defiles his neighbor’s wife,
“But when the righteous man turns away from his righteousness and commits sin and acts in accordance with all the repulsive things that the wicked man does, will he live? All of his righteous deeds which he has done will not be remembered because of the treachery that he has committed and for his sin which he has committed; for them he shall die.
When a righteous man turns away from his righteousness, and commits sin and dies because of it, it is for his sin which he has committed that he dies.
“Look at the proud one,His soul is not right within him,But the righteous will live by his faith [in the true God].
He who receives and welcomes a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward; and he who receives a righteous (honorable) man because he is a righteous man will receive a righteous man’s reward.
So when Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but rather that a riot was breaking out, he took water and washed his hands [to ceremonially cleanse himself of guilt] in the presence of the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of this [righteous] Man’s blood; see to that yourselves.”
Therefore, confess your sins to one another [your false steps, your offenses], and pray for one another, that you may be healed and restored. The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) can accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God—it is dynamic and can have tremendous power].
