a Gentile. Such as resided among the Hebrews were required by the law to be treated with kindness (Ex 22:21; 23:9; Le 19:33-34; 23:22; De 14:28; 16:10-11; 24:19). They enjoyed in many things equal rights with the native-born residents (Ex 12:49; Le 24:22; Nu 15:15; 35:15), but were not allowed to do anything which was an abomination according to the Jewish law (Ex 20:10; Le 17:15-16; 18:26; 20:2; 24:16, etc.).

The same law will apply to both the native and the foreigner who resides among you."
but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. You must not do any work-you, your son or daughter, your male or female slave, your livestock, or the foreigner who is within your gates.
"You must not exploit a foreign resident or oppress him, since you were foreigners in the land of Egypt.

The assembly is to have the same statute for both you and the foreign resident as a permanent statute throughout your generations. You and the foreigner will be alike before the Lord.
These six cities will serve as a refuge for the Israelites and for the foreigner or temporary resident among them, so that anyone who kills a person unintentionally may flee there.
"At the end of [every] three years, bring a tenth of all your produce for that year and store [it] within your gates.
You are to celebrate the Festival of Weeks to the Lord your God with a freewill offering that you give in proportion to how the Lord your God has blessed you. Rejoice before the Lord your God in the place where He chooses to have His name dwell-you, your son and daughter, your male and female slave, the Levite within your gates, as well as the foreign resident, the fatherless, and the widow among you.
"When you reap the harvest in your field, and you forget a sheaf in the field, do not go back to get it. It is to be left for the foreign resident, the fatherless, and the widow, so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.
