Then I came to the exiles who lived beside the river Chebar at Tel-abib, and I sat there seven days where they were living, causing consternation among them.

Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.

For after seven more days, I will send rain on the earth forty days and forty nights; and I will blot out from the face of the land every living thing that I have made.”

After looking up the disciples, we stayed there seven days; and they kept telling Paul through the Spirit not to set foot in Jerusalem.

We sailed from Philippi after the days of Unleavened Bread, and came to them at Troas within five days; and there we stayed seven days.

For seven days the one of his sons who is priest in his stead shall put them on when he enters the tent of meeting to minister in the holy place.

Seven days passed after the Lord had struck the Nile.

The elders of Jabesh said to him, “Let us alone for seven days, that we may send messengers throughout the territory of Israel. Then, if there is no one to deliver us, we will come out to you.”

Now he waited seven days, according to the appointed time set by Samuel, but Samuel did not come to Gilgal; and the people were scattering from him.

There we found some brethren, and were invited to stay with them for seven days; and thus we came to Rome.


“For forty years I loathed that generation,
And said they are a people who err in their heart,
And they do not know My ways.

Your sons shall be shepherds for forty years in the wilderness, and they will suffer for your unfaithfulness, until your corpses lie in the wilderness.

The sons of Israel ate the manna forty years, until they came to an inhabited land; they ate the manna until they came to the border of the land of Canaan.

Then the land had rest forty years. And Othniel the son of Kenaz died.

A man’s foot will not pass through it, and the foot of a beast will not pass through it, and it will not be inhabited for forty years.



Behold, seven years of great abundance are coming in all the land of Egypt;

and the seven years of famine began to come, just as Joseph had said, then there was famine in all the lands, but in all the land of Egypt there was bread.

In that the king saw an angelic watcher, a holy one, descending from heaven and saying, “Chop down the tree and destroy it; yet leave the stump with its roots in the ground, but with a band of iron and bronze around it in the new grass of the field, and let him be drenched with the dew of heaven, and let him share with the beasts of the field until seven periods of time pass over him,”


So he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights; he did not eat bread or drink water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.

Moses entered the midst of the cloud as he went up to the mountain; and Moses was on the mountain forty days and forty nights.


So I fell down before the Lord the forty days and nights, which I did because the Lord had said He would destroy you.


This whole land will be a desolation and a horror, and these nations will serve the king of Babylon seventy years.


The Philistine came forward morning and evening for forty days and took his stand.


The Lord therefore said to Moses, “Gather for Me seventy men from the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people and their officers and bring them to the tent of meeting, and let them take their stand there with you.




When they returned from spying out the land, at the end of forty days,


Now forty days were required for it, for such is the period required for embalming. And the Egyptians wept for him seventy days.


So he arose and ate and drank, and went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights to Horeb, the mountain of God.


Then the flood came upon the earth for forty days, and the water increased and lifted up the ark, so that it rose above the earth.


“Seventy weeks have been decreed for your people and your holy city, to finish the transgression, to make an end of sin, to make atonement for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy place.


Then it came about at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made;


When you have completed these, you shall lie down a second time, but on your right side and bear the iniquity of the house of Judah; I have assigned it to you for forty days, a day for each year.


Now after this the Lord appointed seventy others, and sent them in pairs ahead of Him to every city and place where He Himself was going to come.


Then Jonah began to go through the city one day’s walk; and he cried out and said, “Yet forty days and Nineveh will be overthrown.”


To these He also presented Himself alive after His suffering, by many convincing proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty days and speaking of the things concerning the kingdom of God.
