So He said to him, “Bring Me a three year old heifer, and a three year old female goat, and a three year old ram, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon.”

But if she cannot afford a lamb, then she shall take two turtledoves or two young pigeons, the one for a burnt offering and the other for a sin offering; and the priest shall make atonement for her, and she will be clean.’”

‘But if his offering to the Lord is a burnt offering of birds, then he shall bring his offering from the turtledoves or from young pigeons.

‘But if he cannot afford a lamb, then he shall bring to the Lord his guilt offering for that in which he has sinned, two turtledoves or two young pigeons, one for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering.

and two turtledoves or two young pigeons which are within his means, the one shall be a sin offering and the other a burnt offering.

and to offer a sacrifice according to what was said in the Law of the Lord, “A pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons.”




and he sent out a raven, and it flew here and there until the water was dried up from the earth.

and every raven in its kind,

It shall be that you will drink of the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to provide for you there.”




You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings, and brought you to Myself.

“Saul and Jonathan, beloved and pleasant in their life,
And in their death they were not parted;
They were swifter than eagles,
They were stronger than lions.

“They slip by like reed boats,
Like an eagle that swoops on its prey.




and the red kite, the falcon, and the kite in their kinds,

“The path no bird of prey knows,
Nor has the falcon’s eye caught sight of it.

The tree snake will make its nest and lay eggs there,
And it will hatch and gather them under its protection.
Yes, the hawks will be gathered there,
Every one with its kind.


“Even the stork in the sky
Knows her seasons;
And the turtledove and the swift and the thrush
Observe the time of their migration;
But My people do not know
The ordinance of the Lord.

and the stork, the heron in its kinds, and the hoopoe, and the bat.

Where the birds build their nests,
And the stork, whose home is the fir trees.

Then I lifted up my eyes and looked, and there two women were coming out with the wind in their wings; and they had wings like the wings of a stork, and they lifted up the ephah between the earth and the heavens.

Then on the eighth day he shall bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons to the priest, to the doorway of the tent of meeting.




The bird also has found a house,
And the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young,
Even Your altars, O Lord of hosts,
My King and my God.



The desert creatures will meet with the wolves,
The hairy goat also will cry to its kind;
Yes, the night monster will settle there
And will find herself a resting place.


the little owl, the great owl, the white owl,


the pelican, the carrion vulture, the cormorant,

and the white owl and the pelican and the carrion vulture,

I resemble a pelican of the wilderness;
I have become like an owl of the waste places.



and the ostrich, the owl, the sea gull, and the hawk in their kinds,

“Is it by your understanding that the hawk soars,
Stretching his wings toward the south?


So it came about at evening that the quails came up and covered the camp, and in the morning there was a layer of dew around the camp.

Now there went forth a wind from the Lord and it brought quail from the sea, and let them fall beside the camp, about a day’s journey on this side and a day’s journey on the other side, all around the camp and about two cubits deep on the surface of the ground.

They asked, and He brought quail,
And satisfied them with the bread of heaven.


“Even the stork in the sky

Like a swallow, like a crane, so I twitter;
I moan like a dove;
My eyes look wistfully to the heights;
O Lord, I am oppressed, be my security.


“The ostriches’ wings flap joyously
With the pinion and plumage of love,

Even jackals offer the breast,
They nurse their young;
But the daughter of my people has become cruel
Like ostriches in the wilderness.


For the king had at sea the ships of Tarshish with the ships of Hiram; once every three years the ships of Tarshish came bringing gold and silver, ivory and apes and peacocks.

“The ostriches’ wings flap joyously
With the pinion and plumage of love,
