28 Bible Verses about Chastity

You shall not commit adultery.

Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness (which is idolatry),

For this is the will of God, your sanctification, for you to abstain from fornication,

but that we write to them that they should abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.

Do not give your strength to women, nor your ways to that which destroys kings.

having eyes full of adultery and never ceasing from sin, alluring unstable souls, having a heart exercised with covetousness. They are cursed children

For they, being past feeling, have given themselves up to lust, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

Likewise, indeed, also these dreaming ones even defile flesh, and despise rulership, and speak evil of glories.

The mouth of strange women is a deep pit; those despised by Jehovah shall fall there.

For the lips of a strange woman drip honey, and her palate is smoother than oil; but afterward she is as bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword. Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell, read more.

Flee fornication. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits fornication sins against his own body.

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit in you, whom you have of God? And you are not your own,

For God has not called us to uncleanness, but in sanctification.

When wisdom enters into your heart, and knowledge is pleasing to your soul; judgment shall keep you, understanding shall keep you,

Say to wisdom, You are my sister; and call understanding your kinsman, so that they may keep you from the strange woman, from the stranger who flatters with her words.

For the time of life which is past is enough for us to have worked out the will of the nations, having gone on in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, parties, carousings, and abominable idolatries.

But now I have written to you not to associate intimately, if any man called a brother and is either a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such a one not to eat.

Do you not know that you are a temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God shall destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which you are.

Now the works of the flesh are clearly revealed, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lustfulness, idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, fightings, jealousies, angers, rivalries, divisions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkennesses, revelings, and things like these; of which I tell you before, as I also said before, that they who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

And after these things it happened that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph. And she said, Lie with me. But he refused and said to his master's wife, Behold, my master does not know what is in the house with me, and he has given all that he has into my hand. There is none greater in this house than I. Neither has he kept back anything from me except you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God? read more.
And it happened as she spoke to Joseph day by day, that he did not listen to her to lie with her, or to be with her.

And it happened one evening, David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of the king's house. And from the roof he saw a woman bathing. And the woman was very beautiful to look upon. And David sent and asked about the woman. And one said, Is not this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite? And David sent messengers and took her. And she came in to him, and he lay with her. And she had purified herself from her uncleanness. And she returned to her house.

For let fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness not be once named among you, as becomes saints,

Do not lust after her beauty in your heart; nor let her take you with her eyelids.

Likewise, wives, be in subjection to your own husbands, so that if any do not obey the Word, they may also be won without the Word by the conduct of the wives, having witnessed your chaste behavior in the fear of God.

And he said, Blessed be you of Jehovah, my daughter. You have shown more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, in that you did not follow young men, whether poor or rich. And now, my daughter, do not fear. I will do to you all that you ask. For all the city of my people knows that you are a woman of virtue.

And none of the men of the house were inside. And she caught him by his robe, saying, Lie with me. And he left his robe in her hand and fled, and got out. And it happened when she saw that he had left his robe in her hand, and had fled, she called to the men of her house and spoke to them, saying, See, he has brought in a Hebrew to us to sport with us. He came in to me, to lie with me, and I cried with a loud voice. And it happened when he heard that I lifted up my voice and cried, he left his robe with me, and fled, and got out. And she laid up his robe beside her until his lord came home. And she spoke to him according to these words, saying, The Hebrew servant which you have brought to us came in to me to sport with me. And it happened as I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his robe with me and ran out. And it happened when his master heard the words of his wife which she spoke to him, saying, Your servant did this to me, his wrath was kindled. And Joseph's master took him and put him in the prison, a place where the king's prisoners were bound. And he was there in the prison.

Stay tonight, and it shall be in the morning, if he will redeem you, well; he will redeem. And if he does not delight to redeem you, as Jehovah lives, then I will redeem you. Lie down until the morning.

And she went down to the grain floor and did according to all that her mother-in-law had told her. And when Boaz had eaten and had drunk, and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap. And she came softly and uncovered his feet, and lay down. And it happened at midnight, the man trembled and turned himself. And, behold, a woman lay at his feet. read more.
And he said, Who are you? And she answered, I am your handmaid Ruth. And you shall spread your skirt over your handmaid, for you are a kinsman-redeemer. And now, my daughter, do not fear. I will do to you all that you ask. For all the city of my people knows that you are a woman of virtue. And now it is true that I am your kinsman-redeemer. But there is also a kinsman nearer than I. Stay tonight, and it shall be in the morning, if he will redeem you, well; he will redeem. And if he does not delight to redeem you, as Jehovah lives, then I will redeem you. Lie down until the morning.

And you shall not commit adultery.

But I say to you that whoever looks on a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

These are those who were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are those who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These were redeemed from among men, as a firstfruit to God and to the Lamb.

For this is the will of God, your sanctification, for you to abstain from fornication,

I made a covenant with my eyes; how then could I look upon a virgin?
