But woe to the women with child, and to those having children at the breast, in those days! For there will be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people; and they will fall by the edge of the sword, and will be led away captive into all the nations; and Jerusalem will be trodden down by the gentiles, until the times of the gentiles are fulfilled. And there will be signs in the sun and moon and stars; and on the earth distress of nations, in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and waves;
These things I have spoken to you, that in me ye may have peace. In the world ye have tribulation; but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
confirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and saying that it is through many afflictions that we mast enter into the kingdom of God.
And not only so, but we rejoice in afflictions also, knowing that affliction produceth endurance,
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ for us? Shall affliction or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or peril or sword?
Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; persevere in prayer.
I think, then, that it is well, on account of the impending distress, for a man to remain as he is.
Great is my confidence toward you, great is my glorying on your account; I am filled with comfort, I overflow with joy in all our trouble.
for even when we were with you, we told you before that we are to suffer affliction, just as it came to pass, and ye know.
for this cause, brethren, we were comforted over you in all our distress and affliction by your faith;
so that we ourselves glory in you among the churches of God, for your constancy and faith in all your persecutions and the afflictions which ye endure;
