And the barbarians showed us no ordinary kindness; for they kindled a fire, and received us all, because of the rain which was falling, and because of the cold.

Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them: Rulers of the people, and elders of Israel, if we are this day examined with respect unto the good deed done to the infirm man, by what means he has been saved, be it known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by him does this man stand before you in health.

when defamed, we entreat; we have become like the outcasts of the world, the offscouring of all things to this day.

But I say to you that hear: Love your enemies; do good to them that hate you; bless them that curse you; pray for them that abuse you.

But I say to you, Love your enemies: bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who insult you and persecute you:

Wherefore, receive one another with kindness, as the Christ has received you, to the glory of God.

and be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving one another, as God in Christ has forgiven you.

But go and learn what this means: I desire mercy, and not sacrifice. For I came not to call righteous men, but sinners to repentance.

Then his lord called him and said to him: Wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt, because you besought me. Ought you not to have had mercy on your fellow-servant, even as I had mercy on you?

Which, then, of these three do you think was neighbor to him that fell among the robbers? He replied: He that showed mercy to him. Jesus said to him: Go, and do you likewise.

Take heed to yourselves; if your brother sin against you, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. And if he sin against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to you and say, I repent, you shall forgive him.

But we that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of those who are not strong, and not to please ourselves. Let each one of us please his neighbor in that which is good for his edification.

Finally, be all of the same mind, be sympathizing, lovers of the brethren, kind-hearted, humble-minded;

Let no one seek his own, but each the welfare of the other.

that you may be enriched in every thing, for all liberality which produces through us thanksgiving to God; because the administration of this service not only supplies the wants of the saints, but also abounds in many thanksgivings to God; (since through the proof which this service gives, they glorify God for your acknowledged subjection to the gospel of Christ, and for the liberality of your contribution for them, and for all;)

Let us not become weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, but especially to those who are the household of the faith.

that they do good, that they be rich in good works, that they be ready to distribute, liberal,

and the servant of the Lord must not be contentious, but gentle toward all men, able to teach, patient under evils,

But forget not to do good, and to be liberal: for with such, sacrifices God is well pleased.

so, even for this very purpose, uniting to these things all diligence, add to your faith, virtue; and to virtue, knowledge; and to knowledge, temperance; and to temperance, patience; and to patience, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love.
