And we know that all things co-operate for good to them that love God, to them that are called according to his purpose;
that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly regions; according to the ancient purpose, which He executed in Christ Jesus our Lord:
who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose, and grace bestowed upon us through Christ Jesus, before the world was,
Wherefore God being willing more abundantly to manifest unto the heirs of the promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it with an oath:
Father, if thou art willing take away this cup from me---nevertheless, not my will but thine be done.
And going a little farther, He prostrated himself, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt.
And He said, Abba, Father, all things are possible to Thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless, not what I will, but what thou wilt.
And as he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done.
saying, I must by all means keep the approaching feast at Jerusalem; but I will return to you again, God willing. So he sailed from Ephesus;
intreating if I may now at length have a prosperous journey by the will of God, to come unto you.
Come now, ye that say, To-day or to-morrow we will go to such a city, and spend a year there, and trade and get gain; (though ye know not what will be on the morrow; for what is your life? a vapor, which appeareth for a little while, and then vanisheth away:) whereas ye ought to say, If the Lord will, and we should live, and do this or that:
(as ye yourselves also know,) Him being given up by the determinate counsel and fore-knowlege of God ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain.
Now David having served his own generation according to the will of God, fell asleep, and was laid with his fathers, and saw corruption: but He whom God raised,
(when the children were not yet born, nor had done either good or evil, that the purpose of God according to his choice might abide, not on account of works, but of Him that calleth,) it was said to her, the elder shall serve the younger: as it is written,
And the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, for this very purpose have I raised thee up, that I may shew forth my power in thee, and that my name may be declared through all the earth.

to enlighten them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to direct our feet into the way of peace."
For the Lamb, that is in the midst of the throne, shall feed them, and shall lead them to fountains of living waters: and God will wipe off every tear from their eyes.
