He is the radiance of his glory and the exact representation of his being, and upholds all things by the word of his power. All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: "Behold, the virgin shall be with child and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel," which means, "God with us."

And Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, since I am a virgin?"

concerning his Son, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh,

And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to deatheven death on a cross.

For what the law could not do, in that it was weakened through the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin: he condemned sin in the flesh,
