And Jehovah God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

neither is he served by men's hands, as though he needed anything, seeing he himself giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;

Jehovah killeth, and maketh alive: He bringeth down to Sheol, and bringeth up.

For thou didst form my inward parts: Thou didst cover me in my mother's womb.

for in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain even of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. What is your life? For ye are a vapor, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall both live, and do this or that.

Jehovah, make me to know mine end, And the measure of my days, what it is; Let me know how frail I am.

And he said, Behold now, I am old, I know not the day of my death.

Come now, ye that say, To-day or to-morrow we will go into this city, and spend a year there, and trade, and get gain: whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. What is your life? For ye are a vapor, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.

For what shall a man be profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and forfeit his life? or what shall a man give in exchange for his life?

For what is a man profited, if he gain the whole world, and lose or forfeit his own self?

in that I command thee this day to love Jehovah thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his ordinances, that thou mayest live and multiply, and that Jehovah thy God may bless thee in the land whither thou goest in to possess it.

Surely goodness and lovingkindness shall follow me all the days of my life; And I shall dwell in the house of Jehovah for ever.

For thou art my hope, O Lord Jehovah: Thou art my trust from my youth. By thee have I been holden up from the womb; Thou art he that took me out of my mother's bowels: My praise shall be continually of thee.

O Jehovah, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.

He hath showed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth Jehovah require of thee, but to do justly, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with thy God?

He that findeth his life shall lose it; and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

The days of our years are threescore years and ten, Or even by reason of strength fourscore years; Yet is their pride but labor and sorrow; For it is soon gone, and we fly away.

Oh remember how short my time is: For what vanity hast thou created all the children of men!

So teach us to number our days, That we may get us a heart of wisdom.

My days are like a shadow that declineth; And I am withered like grass.

Man is like to vanity: His days are as a shadow that passeth away.

The voice of one saying, Cry. And one said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field. And all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years: And he died.

And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran, his son's son, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there. And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran.

Length of days is in her right hand; In her left hand are riches and honor.

The fear of Jehovah prolongeth days; But the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

For, He that would love life, And see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, And his lips that they speak no guile:

What man is he that desireth life, And loveth many days, that he may see good? Keep thy tongue from evil, And thy lips from speaking guile.

He will yet fill thy mouth with laughter, And thy lips with shouting.

With long life will I satisfy him, And show him my salvation.

I loathe my life ; I would not live alway: Let me alone; for my days are vanity.
