By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only-begotten son, Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called: Accounting that God was able to raise him even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.
The LORD hath sworn in truth to David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.
And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten by worms, and died.

Thus saith the LORD; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rachel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not.
Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked by the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all its borders, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men. When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.

For we have not a high priest who cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but who was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.

Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then shall the lame man leap as a hart, and the tongue of the dumb shall sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.
Jesus answered and said to them, Go and show John again those things which ye hear and see: The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he to whom I shall not be the cause of his falling into sin.
Then the chief priests and the Pharisees convened a council, and said, What do we? for this man performeth many miracles.
But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised by the people.
For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me.
He is despised and rejected by men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
And he will be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offense to both the houses of Israel, for a trap and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
Why? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumbling-stone;
And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense, even to them who stumble at the word, being disobedient: to which also they were appointed.
They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head: they that would destroy me, being my enemies wrongfully, are mighty: then I restored that which I took not away.
Thus saith the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nation abhorreth, to a servant of rulers, kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the LORD that is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, and he shall choose thee.
If I had not done among them the works which no other man hath done, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen, and hated both me and my Father. But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.
The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.
Jesus saith to them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes?
Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,
And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together; for before they were at enmity between themselves.
For in truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were assembled,
Yes, my own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, who ate of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.
For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that magnified himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him: But it was thou, a man my equal, my guide, and my acquaintance. We took sweet counsel together, and walked to the house of God in company.

And the LORD said to me, Cast it to the potter: a goodly price that I was prized at by them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them to the potter in the house of the LORD.
I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels. My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.
Saying, Father, if thou art willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine be done.
