Always think of our Lord's patience as salvation, just as our dearly beloved brother Paul, with the wisdom granted him, wrote you to do, speaking of it as he does in all his letters. In them are some things hard to understand, which the ignorant and unsteady twist to their ruin, as they do the rest of the Scriptures.
I have much to say to you about Him, but it is difficult to make it clear to you, since you have become so dull in your spiritual senses.
Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of the Scriptures, and to preaching and teaching.
Do your best to present yourself to God an approved workman who has nothing to be ashamed of, who properly presents the message of truth.
The Jews there were better disposed than those in Thessalonica, for they welcomed the message with all eagerness and carried on a daily study of the Scriptures to see if Paul's message was true.
But, as the Scripture says, they are: "Things which eye has never seen and ear has never heard, and never have occurred to human hearts, which God prepared for those who love Him." Now we have not received the spirit that belongs to the world but the Spirit that comes from God, that we may get an insight into the blessings God has graciously given us.
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send to represent me, will teach you everything Himself, and cause you to remember everything that I have told you.
But when the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into the whole truth, for He will not speak on His own authority but will tell what is told Him, and will announce to you the things that are to come.

so that we may not be babies any longer, or like sailors tossed about and driven around by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men through their cunning in inventing new methods of error.
Continue to give these orders and to teach these truths. Let no one think little of you because you are young, but always set an example for believers, in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity. Stop neglecting the gift you received, which was given you through prophetic utterance when the elders laid their hands upon you. Continue cultivating these things; be devoted to them, so that everybody will see your progress. Make it your habit to pay close attention to yourself and your teaching. Persevere in these things, for if you do you will save both yourself and those who listen to you.
I solemnly charge you, before God and Christ Jesus who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom, preach the message, stay at it in season and out of season; convince, reprove, exhort people with perfect patience as a teacher.
