But you, when you pray, enter into your inner chamber, and having shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
But the report concerning him spread much more, and great crowds came together to hear, and to be healed of their infirmities. But he withdrew himself into the desert, and prayed.
It happened in these days, that he went out to the mountain to pray, and he continued all night in prayer to God.
When it was day, he departed and went into an uninhabited place, and the crowds looked for him, and came to him, and held on to him, so that he would not go away from them.
And he said to them, "Come away by yourselves to an isolated place, and rest awhile." For there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.
The LORD God said, "It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him."
And after he had sent the crowds away, he went up into the mountain by himself to pray. When evening had come, he was there alone.
Then the apostles gathered themselves together to Jesus, and they told him all things, whatever they had done, and whatever they had taught.
Now Moses was keeping the flock of Jethro, his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the back of the wilderness, and came to God's mountain, to Horeb. The angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush. He looked, and behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.
It happened, when Moses entered into the Tent, that the pillar of cloud descended, stood at the door of the Tent, and spoke with Moses.
When Elisha had come into the house, behold, the child was dead, and lay on his bed. He went in therefore, and shut the door on them both, and prayed to the LORD.
He went forward a little, fell on his face, and prayed, saying, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from me; nevertheless, not what I desire, but what you desire."

So he went and did according to the word of the LORD; for he went and lived by the Wadi Cherith, that is near the Jordan. And the ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening. And he drank from the wadi.
Then the apostles gathered themselves together to Jesus, and they told him all things, whatever they had done, and whatever they had taught. And he said to them, "Come away by yourselves to an isolated place, and rest awhile." For there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat. So they went away in the boat to an isolated place by themselves.
nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me, but I went away into Arabia. Then I returned to Damascus.
