This is the first commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is no other commandment greater than these.
full of envy, murder, contention, deceit, malignity: Whisperers, backbiters: haters of God, violent, proud: boasters, inventers of evil things: disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenant-breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful.
Then he that had received the one talent came and said, Sir, I knew that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hadst not sown, and gathering whence thou hadst not scattered. And being afraid, I went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, thou hast what is thine. His lord answering said to him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather whence I had not scattered?
And the steward said in himself, What shall I do? For my lord taketh away the stewardship from me. I cannot dig, to beg I am ashamed. I know what to do, that when I am removed from the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses. So having called to him every one of his lord's debtors, he said to the first, How much owest thou to my lord?read more.
And he said, An hundred measures of oil. He said to him, Take thy bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty. Then said he to another, And how much owest thou? He said, An hundred measures of wheat. He saith, Take thy bill, and write fourscore. And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely; for the children of this world are wiser in their generation than the children of light. And I say to you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness, that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations. He that is faithful in the least, is faithful also in much; and he that is unjust in the least, is unjust also in much. If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will intrust you with the true riches? And if ye have not been fauthful in that which is another's, who will give you that which is your own?
And Zaccheus stood and said to the Lord, Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor, and if I have taken any thing from any man wrongfully, I restore him fourfold.
And the scribes and Pharisees bring a woman taken in adultery, and having set her in the midst, They say to him, Master, this woman was taken actually committing adultery. Now Moses hath commanded us in the law, to stoee such.
But I say unto you, whosoever shall put away his wife, save for the cause of whoredom, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away, committeth adultery.
And I say to you, whosoever shall put away his wife, except for whoredom, and marry another, committeth adultery, and whoso marrieth her that is put away, committeth adultery.
But the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child; and children shall rise up against their parents, and kill them.
Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son: and children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.
But ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolk, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.
yea, is already come, that ye shall be scattered every one to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone; for the Father is with me.
Then saith Jesus to them, All ye will be offended at me this night, for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered.
And Jesus saith to them, Ye all will be offended at me this night; for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.
But all this is done, that the scriptures of the prophets may be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him and fled.
Then they all forsook him and fled. And a certain young man followed him, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body;
And while he was yet speaking, lo Judas one of the twelve came, and with him a great multitude with swords and clubs from the chief priests and elders of the people. Now he that betrayed him, had given them a signal, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, is he; seize him. And forthwith coming to Jesus, he said, Hail, Master, and kissed him.read more.
And Jesus said to him, Friend, Wherefore art thou come? Then came they and laid hands on Jesus and took him.
And immediately, while ye yet spake, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude, with swords and clubs, from the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders. Now he that betrayed him had given them a signal, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, is he: seize and lead him away safely. And when he was come, he goeth straightway to him, and saith, Master, Master!read more.
And kissed him? And they laid their hands on him, and took him.
And while he yet spake, behold a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near to Jesus to kiss him. And Jesus said to him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?
And Judas also, who betrayed him, knew the place: for Jesus had often met there with his disciples. Judas then having received a troop of soldiers, and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns, and torches, and arms. Then Jesus knowing all things that were coming upon him, went forth and said to them, Whom seek ye?read more.
They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith to them, I am he. And Judas also, who betrayed him, stood with them.
Then he began to curse and to swear, I know not this man of whom ye speak. And the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus had said to him, Before the cock crow twice, thou wilt deny me thrice. And he covered his head and wept.
And Peter said, Man, I am not. And about one hour after, another confidently affirmed, saying, Of a truth this fellow also was with him, for he is a Galilean. And Peter said, Man, I know not what thou meanest. And immediately, while he yet spake, the cock crew. And the Lord turning looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord,
One of the servants of the high priest (being kinsman to him whose ear Peter had cut off) saith, Did not I see thee in the garden with him? Peter denied again, and immediately the cock crew.
This thou knowest, that all who are in Asia are turned away from me, of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes.
Do thy diligence to come to me shortly. For Demas hath forsaken me, loving the present world, and is gone to Thessalonica, Crescens to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia. Only Luke is with me. Take Mark and bring him with thee, for he is profitable to me for service.
