Acertain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.
Then went Jesus, and found that he had lain in his grave four days already.
After he heard that he was sick, then abode he two days still in the same place where he was.
Then said Martha unto Jesus, "Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not been dead:
And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, "Lazarus come forth."
And he that was dead, came forth bound hand and foot, with grave bonds after the manner as they were wont to bind their dead withal. And his face was bound with a napkin. Jesus said unto them, "Loose him, and let him go."
Howbeit, Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of the natural sleep.
It was that Mary which anointed Jesus with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick,
and his sisters sent unto him, saying, "Lord behold, he whom thou lovest is sick."
and I am glad for your sakes, that I was not there, because ye may believe. Nevertheless let us go unto him."
And Jesus said, "Take ye away the stone." Martha, the sister of him that was dead, said unto him, "Lord by this time he stinketh. For he hath been dead four days."
The high priests therefore held a council that they might put Lazarus to death also,
When Jesus that heard he said, "This infirmity is not unto death: But for the laud of God, that the son of God might be praised by the reason of it."
There they made him a supper, and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.
This said he. And after that he said unto them, "Our friend Lazarus sleepeth, but I go to wake him out of sleep."
Then he said, 'I pray thee therefore father, send him to my father's house.
The people that was with him, when he called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from death, bare record.
Much people of the Jews had knowledge that he was there. And they came not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also whom he raised from death.
For I have five brethren: for to warn them, lest they also come into this place of torment.'

Jesus said unto her, "Said I not unto thee, that if thou didst believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?"
because that for his sake many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.
And he cried and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue, for I am tormented in this flame.'
I know that thou hearest me always: but because of the people that stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me."
"There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple, and fine bysse, and fared deliciously every day.
Then said the Jews, "Behold how he loved him."

The people that was with him, when he called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from death, bare record. Therefore met him the people, because they heard that he had done such a miracle.
