'Began' in the Bible
as he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets, who have been since the world began;
And he began to say to them, To-day this scripture is fulfilled in your ears.
And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason in their minds, saying, Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who is able to forgive sins but God alone?
And the dead sat up and began to speak; and he gave him to his mother.
And the messengers of John having departed, he began to speak to the crowds concerning John: What went ye out into the wilderness to behold? a reed shaken by the wind?
and standing at his feet behind him weeping, began to wash his feet with tears; and she wiped them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the myrrh.
And they that were with them at table began to say within themselves, Who is this who forgives also sins?
But the day began to decline, and the twelve came and said to him, Send away the crowd that they may go into the villages around, and into the fields, and lodge and find victuals, for here we are in a desert place.
But as the crowds thronged together, he began to say, This generation is a wicked generation: it seeks a sign, and a sign shall not be given to it but the sign of Jonas.
And as he said these things to them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to press him urgently, and to make him speak of many things;
In those times, the myriads of the crowd being gathered together, so that they trod one on another, he began to say to his disciples first, Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy;
And all began, without exception, to excuse themselves. The first said to him, I have bought land, and I must go out and see it; I pray thee hold me for excused.
saying, This man began to build and was not able to finish?
But when he had spent all there arose a violent famine throughout that country, and he began to be in want.
for this my son was dead and has come to life, was lost and has been found. And they began to make merry.
And as he drew near, already at the descent of the mount of Olives, all the multitude of the disciples began, rejoicing, to praise God with a loud voice for all the works of power which they had seen,
And entering into the temple, he began to cast out those that sold and bought in it,
And he began to speak to the people this parable: A man planted a vineyard and let it out to husbandmen, and left the country for a long time.
And they began to question together among themselves who then it could be of them who was about to do this.
And they began to accuse him, saying, We have found this man perverting our nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ, a king.
