'Coals' in the Bible

He shall take a firepan full of coals of fire from upon the altar before the Lord and two handfuls of finely ground sweet incense, and bring it inside the veil.

“Say to Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, that he shall take up the censers out of the midst of the blaze, for they are holy; and you scatter the burning coals abroad.

“Smoke went up out of His nostrils,Fire from His mouth devoured;Coals were kindled by it.

“From the brightness before HimCoals of fire were kindled.

“His breath kindles coals,And a flame goes forth from his mouth.

Smoke went up out of His nostrils,And fire from His mouth devoured;Coals were kindled by it.

From the brightness before Him passed His thick clouds,Hailstones and coals of fire.

The Lord also thundered in the heavens,And the Most High uttered His voice,Hailstones and coals of fire.

Sharp arrows of the warrior,With the burning coals of the broom tree.

“May burning coals fall upon them;May they be cast into the fire,Into deep pits from which they cannot rise.

Or can a man walk on hot coalsAnd his feet not be scorched?

For you will heap burning coals on his head,And the Lord will reward you.

The man shapes iron into a cutting tool and does his work over the coals, fashioning it with hammers and working it with his strong arm. He also gets hungry and his strength fails; he drinks no water and becomes weary.

No one recalls, nor is there knowledge or understanding to say, “I have burned half of it in the fire and also have baked bread over its coals. I roast meat and eat it. Then I make the rest of it into an abomination, I fall down before a block of wood!”

“Behold, I Myself have created the smith who blows the fire of coalsAnd brings out a weapon for its work;And I have created the destroyer to ruin.

In the midst of the living beings there was something that looked like burning coals of fire, like torches darting back and forth among the living beings. The fire was bright, and lightning was flashing from the fire.

“But if your enemy is hungry, feed him, and if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.”
