'Death' in the Bible
To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.
And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ.
There was also a prophetess, Anna the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old, having been married to her husband for seven years until his death.
and all mankind shall see the salvation of God.’”
And they got up and took him out of the town to the edge of the mountain on which their town was, so that they might send him down to his death.
And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear unto him, was sick and at the point of death.
And He came up and touched the bier [on which the body rested], and the pallbearers stood still. And He said, “Young man, I say to you, arise [from death]!”
For he had an only daughter, about twelve years old, and she was near to death. But while he was on his way, the people were pushing to be near him.
But Jesus took hold of her hand and spoke, saying, “Child, arise!”
And her spirit returned, and she got up immediately; and He ordered that she be given something to eat.
And Herod said, I put John to death: but who is this, of whom such stories are given to me? And he had a desire to see him.
saying, “The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected [as the Messiah] by the elders and chief priests and scribes (Sanhedrin, Jewish High Court), and be put to death, and on the third day be raised up [from death to life].”
For whoever wishes to save his life [in this world] will [eventually] lose it [through death], but whoever loses his life [in this world] for My sake, he is the one who will save it [from the consequences of sin and separation from God].
But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God.
They appeared in glory and were speaking of His death, which He was about to accomplish in Jerusalem.
for the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them.”] And they journeyed on to another village.
He said to another, “Follow Me [accepting Me as Master and Teacher].” But he said, “Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father.”
A curse is on you! for you make resting-places for the bodies of the prophets, but your fathers put them to death.
So you are witnesses and give approval to the work of your fathers; for they put them to death and you make their last resting-places.
For this reason also the wisdom of God said [in the Scriptures], ‘I will send them prophets and apostles, some of whom they will put to death and some they will persecute,

But I will show you the One to fear: Fear Him who has authority to throw people into hell after death. Yes, I say to you, this is the One to fear!

But I have to go on my way today and tomorrow and the third day, for it is not right for a prophet to come to his death outside Jerusalem.

But if we say, "From humans,' all the people will stone us to death, because they are convinced that John was a prophet."

The chief priests and the scribes were looking for a way to put Him to death, because they were afraid of the people.
And the day of unleavened bread came, when the Passover lamb is put to death.
And he said, I have had a great desire to keep this Passover with you before I come to my death;
And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death.
No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto him.
But with loud voices they said all together, Put this man to death, and make Barabbas free.
And he said unto them the third time, Why, what evil hath he done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will therefore chastise him, and let him go.
But they went on crying out loudly, Let him be put to death on the cross. And they had their way.
And in answer to their request, he let that man go free who had been in prison for acting against the government and causing death, and Jesus he gave up to their pleasure.
And there were also two other, malefactors, led with him to be put to death.
Now the people stood by, watching; but even the rulers ridiculed and sneered at Him, saying, “He saved others [from death]; let Him save Himself if He is the Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed) of God, His Chosen One.”
and sarcastically saying, “If you are [really] the King of the Jews, save Yourself [from death]!”
One of the criminals who had been hanged [on a cross beside Him] kept hurling abuse at Him, saying, “Are You not the Christ? Save Yourself and us [from death]!”
saying that the Son of Man must be handed over to sinful men, and be crucified, and on the third day rise [from death to life].”
And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crucified him.
And he said to them, So it is in the Writings that the Christ would undergo death, and come back to life again on the third day;
