In the Lord I take refuge [and put my trust];How can you say to me, “Flee like a bird to your mountain;
Because of all my enemies I have become a reproach and disgrace,Especially to my neighbors,And an object of dread to my acquaintances;Those who see me on the street run from me.
You have set up a banner for those who fear You [with awe-inspired reverence and submissive wonder—a banner to shield them from attack],A banner that may be displayed because of the truth. Selah.
So they will be caused to stumble;Their own tongue is against them;All who gaze at them will shake the head [in scorn].
Let God arise, and His enemies be scattered;Let those who hate Him flee before Him.
“The kings of the [enemies’] armies flee, they flee,And the beautiful woman who remains at home divides the spoil [left behind].”
What ails you, O sea, that you flee?O Jordan, that you turn back?
Where can I go from Your Spirit?Or where can I flee from Your presence?
Look to the right [the point of attack] and see;For there is no one who has regard for me [to act in my favor].Escape has failed me and I have nowhere to run;No one cares about my life.
Rescue me, O Lord, from my enemies;I take refuge in You.
