'Food' in the Bible

When evening arrived, his disciples came to him saying, "This is an isolated place and the hour is already late. Send the crowds away so that they can go into the villages and buy food for themselves."

"Who then is the faithful and wise slave, whom the master has put in charge of his household, to give the other slaves their food at the proper time?

"Woe to you who are well satisfied with food now, for you will be hungry. "Woe to you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep.

The Lord replied, "Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom the master puts in charge of his household servants, to give them their allowance of food at the proper time?

But when he came to his senses he said, 'How many of my father's hired workers have food enough to spare, but here I am dying from hunger!

But he said to them, "I have food to eat that you know nothing about."

Then a famine occurred throughout Egypt and Canaan, causing great suffering, and our ancestors could not find food.

Now Herod was having an angry quarrel with the people of Tyre and Sidon. So they joined together and presented themselves before him. With regard then to eating food sacrificed to idols, we know that "an idol in this world is nothing," and that "there is no God but one."

But this knowledge is not shared by all. And some, by being accustomed to idols in former times, eat this food as an idol sacrifice, and their conscience, because it is weak, is defiled.

For if someone weak sees you who possess knowledge dining in an idol's temple, will not his conscience be "strengthened" to eat food offered to idols?

For this reason, if food causes my brother or sister to sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I may not cause one of them to sin.

Don't you know that those who serve in the temple eat food from the temple, and those who serve at the altar receive a part of the offerings?

Am I saying that idols or food sacrificed to them amount to anything?

and we did not eat anyone's food without paying. Instead, in toil and drudgery we worked night and day in order not to burden any of you.

Now such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to work quietly and so provide their own food to eat.

But if we have food and shelter, we will be satisfied with that.

For though you should in fact be teachers by this time, you need someone to teach you the beginning elements of God's utterances. You have gone back to needing milk, not solid food.

They served only for matters of food and drink and various washings; they are external regulations imposed until the new order came.

But I have a few things against you: You have some people there who follow the teaching of Balaam, who instructed Balak to put a stumbling block before the people of Israel so they would eat food sacrificed to idols and commit sexual immorality.

But I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, and by her teaching deceives my servants to commit sexual immorality and to eat food sacrificed to idols.
