Then Abraham raised his eyes and looked, and behold, behind him a ram caught in the thicket by his horns; and Abraham went and took the ram and offered him up for a burnt offering in the place of his son.

The ram which you saw with the two horns represents the kings of Media and Persia.

The broken horn and the four horns that arose in its place represent four kingdoms which will arise from his nation, although not with his power.

“For on the day that I punish Israel’s transgressions,I will also punish the altars of Bethel;The horns of the altar will be cut offAnd they will fall to the ground.
