'Made' in the Bible
The ways of Zion are sad, because no one comes to the holy meeting; all her doorways are made waste, her priests are breathing out sorrow: her virgins are troubled, and it is bitter for her.
ה HeHer adversaries have become her masters;her enemies are at ease, for the Lord has made her sufferbecause of her many transgressions. Her children have gone awayas captives before the adversary.
Jerusalem keeps in mind, in the days of her sorrow and of her wanderings, all the desired things which were hers in days gone by; when her people came into the power of her hater and she had no helper, her attackers saw their desire effected on her and made sport of her destruction.
Her uncleanness [was] in her skirts; she did not remember her future, she has descended beyond understanding, there is no comforter for her. See, O Yahweh, my persecution! [My] enemy has been made great!
ל LamedIs this nothing to you, all you who pass by?Look and see!Is there any pain like mine, which was dealt out to me,which the Lord made me sufferon the day of His burning anger?
From above hath he sent fire into my bones, and it prevaileth against them: he hath spread a net for my feet, he hath turned me back: he hath made me desolate and faint all the day.
The yoke of my transgressions is bound by his hand: they are wreathed, and come up upon my neck: he hath made my strength to fall, the Lord hath delivered me into their hands, from whom I am not able to rise up.
“The Lord has rejected all the strong menIn my midst; He has proclaimed an established time against meTo crush my young men.The Lord has trampled down as in a wine pressThe Virgin Daughter of Judah.
For these things I am weeping; my eye is streaming with water; because the comforter who might give me new life is far from me: my children are made waste, because the hater is strong.
(He) The Lord, like an enemy, destroyed Israel. He destroyed all her palaces; he ruined her fortified cities. He made everyone in Daughter Judah mourn and lament.
(Vav) He destroyed his temple as if it were a vineyard; he destroyed his appointed meeting place. The Lord has made those in Zion forget both the festivals and the Sabbaths. In his fierce anger he has spurned both king and priest.
The Lord hath cast off his altar, he hath abhorred his sanctuary, he hath given up into the hand of the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have made a noise in the house of the LORD, as in the day of a solemn feast.
The LORD hath purposed to destroy the wall of the daughter of Zion: he hath stretched out a line, he hath not withdrawn his hand from destroying: therefore he made the rampart and the wall to lament; they languished together.
The visions which your prophets have seen for you are false and foolish; they have not made clear to you your sin so that your fate might be changed: but they have seen for you false words, driving you away.
All your haters are opening their mouths wide against you; making hisses and whistling through their teeth, they say, We have made a meal of her: certainly this is the day we have been looking for; it has come, we have seen it.
The Lord has done what He planned; He has accomplished His wordWhich He commanded from days of old.He has demolished without sparing,And He has caused the enemy to rejoice over you;He has exalted the power of your enemies.
As in the day of a holy meeting you have made fears come round me on every side, and no one got away or was kept safe in the day of the Lord's wrath: those who were folded in my arms, whom I took care of, have been sent to their destruction by my hater.
He has driven me and made me walkIn darkness and not in light.
My flesh and my skin hath he made old; he hath broken my bones.
He has made me dwell in darknesslike those who have been dead for ages.
He hath hedged me about, that I cannot get out: he hath made my chain heavy.
He hath inclosed my ways with hewn stone, he hath made my paths crooked.
He hath turned aside my ways, and pulled me in pieces: he hath made me desolate.
He drew his bow and made me the target for his arrow.
He made the arrows of His quiverTo enter into my inward parts.
He hath filled me with bitterness, he hath made me drunken with wormwood.
ו VavHe ground my teeth on graveland made me cower in the dust.
Thou hast made us as the offscouring and refuse in the midst of the people.
You came near in the day when I made my prayer to you: you said, Have no fear.
O Lord, you have taken up the cause of my soul, you have made my life safe.
(Bet) The precious sons of Zion were worth their weight in gold -- Alas! -- but now they are treated like broken clay pots, made by a potter.
Their appearance is [now] blacker than soot [because of the prolonged famine];They are not recognized in the streets;Their skin clings to their bones; It is withered, and it has become [dry] like wood.
The Lord has given full effect to his passion, he has let loose his burning wrath; he has made a fire in Zion, causing the destruction of its bases.
They are wandering like blind men in the streets, they are made unclean with blood, so that their robes may not be touched by men.
