'Near' in the Bible
The one who is far off will die by plague; the one who is near will fall by the sword; and the one who remains and is spared will die of famine. In this way I will exhaust My wrath on them.
Doom has come on you,inhabitants of the land.The time has come; the day is near.There will be panic on the mountainsand not celebration.
Then He called to me directly with a loud voice, “Come near, executioners of the city, each of you with a destructive weapon in his hand.”
Slaughter the old men, the young men and women, as well as the older women and little children, but do not come near anyone who has the mark. Now begin at My sanctuary.” So they began with the elders who were in front of the temple.
They are saying, ‘Isn’t the time near to build houses? The city is the pot, and we are the meat.’
Therefore say to them: This is what the Lord God says: I will put a stop to this proverb, and they will not use it again in Israel. But say to them: The days draw near, as well as the fulfillment of every vision.
He does not eat at the mountain shrines or raise his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel. He does not defile his neighbor’s wife or come near a woman during her menstrual impurity.
You are guilty of the blood you have shed, and you are defiled from the idols you have made. You have brought your judgment days near and have come to your years of punishment. Therefore, I have made you a disgrace to the nations and a mockery to all the lands.
Those who are near and those far away from you will mock you, you infamous one full of turmoil.
For a day is near;a day belonging to the Lord is near.It will be a day of clouds,a time of doom for the nations.
“Now, son of man, your people are talking about you near the city walls and in the doorways of their houses. One person speaks to another, each saying to his brother, ‘Come and hear what the message is that comes from the Lord!’
“You, mountains of Israel, will produce your branches and bear your fruit for My people Israel, since their arrival is near.
They must not approach Me to serve Me as priests or come near any of My holy things or the most holy things. They will bear their disgrace and the consequences of the detestable acts they committed.
“They are the ones who may enter My sanctuary and draw near to My table to serve Me. They will keep My mandate.
A priest may not come near a dead person so that he becomes defiled. However, he may defile himself for a father, a mother, a son, a daughter, a brother, or an unmarried sister.
It will be a holy area of the land to be used by the priests who minister in the sanctuary, who draw near to serve the Lord. It will be a place for their houses, as well as a holy area for the sanctuary.
