'Scorched' in the Bible

The land is scorchedby the wrath of the Lord of Hosts, and the people are like fuel for the fire.No one has compassion on his brother.

Therefore, a curse devours the earth, and those who live on it suffer the punishment of their guilt. Therefore, the inhabitants of the earth are burned [under the curse of God’s wrath], and few people are left.

The scorched land will become a poolAnd the thirsty ground springs of water; In the haunt of jackals, its resting place,Grass becomes reeds and rushes.

Their inhabitants are devoid of power, and are terrified and put to shame. They've become like plants in the field, like green shoots, like grass on rooftops, scorched by the east wind.
