'Deaf' in the Bible
Then God asked him, "Who gives a person a mouth? Who makes him unable to speak, or deaf, or able to see, or blind, or lame? Is it not I, the LORD?
"You are not to curse a deaf person or put a stumbling block before the blind. "You are to fear God. I am the LORD.
I am like the deaf, who cannot hear, and like the mute, who cannot open his mouth.
Their venom is like a poisonous snake; even like a deaf serpent that shuts its ears,
On that day the deaf will hear the words of a scroll, and out of gloom and darkness the eyes of the blind will see.
"Then the eyes of the blind will be opened, and the ears of the deaf unblocked;
"Listen, you deaf people, and look up, you blind people, so you may see!
Who is blind except my servant, or deaf like my messenger I am sending? Who is blind like the one committed to me, or blind like the LORD's servant?
"Bring out the people who are blind, yet still have eyes, who are deaf, yet still have ears!
The nations will look on and will be ashamed in spite of all their power; they will cup their hands over their mouths, and their ears will be deaf.
the blind see, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the destitute hear the good news.
Some people brought him a deaf man who also had a speech impediment. They begged him to lay his hand on him.
Amazed beyond measure, they kept on saying, "He does everything well! He even makes deaf people hear and mute people talk!"
So he answered them, "Go and tell John what you have observed and heard: the blind see, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear again, the dead are raised, and the destitute hear the good news.
