'Away' in the Bible
Esau took his wives, sons, daughters, and all the people of his household, as well as his herds, all his livestock, and all the property he had acquired in Canaan; he went to a land away from his brother Jacob.
And the man said, They have gone away from here, for they said in my hearing, Let us go to Dothan. So Joseph went after them and came up with them at Dothan.
Now at that time, Judah went away from his brothers and became the friend of a man of Adullam named Hirah.
And she arose, and went away, and laid by her vail from her, and put on the garments of her widowhood.
And pulling at his coat, she said, Come to my bed; but slipping out of his coat, he went running away.
When she saw that he had left his robe in her hand and had run outside,
For indeed I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews: and here also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon.
And there will arise after them seven years of famine; and all the plenty will be forgotten in the land of Egypt, and the famine will waste away the land.
And Joseph gathered all the [surplus] food of the seven [good] years in the land of Egypt and stored [enormous quantities of] the food in the cities. He stored away in every city the food [collected] from its own surrounding fields.
And to the first he gave the name Manasseh, for he said, God has taken away from me all memory of my hard life and of my father's house.
In this way you shall be tested: by the life of Pharaoh, you shall not leave this place unless your youngest brother comes here!
He turned away from them and wept. Then he turned back and spoke to them. He took Simeon from them and had him bound before their eyes.
When he returned, he spoke with them, but then he took Simeon away from them and had him placed under arrest right in front of them. After this, Joseph gave orders to fill up their sacks with grain, to return each man's money to his own sack, and to supply each of them with provisions for their return journey. All of this was done for them.
Then they loaded their grain upon their donkeys and went [away] from there.
And Jacob their father said unto them, Me have ye bereaved of my children: Joseph is not, and Simeon is not, and ye will take Benjamin away: all these things are against me.
Take your brother too, and go right away to the man.
And God Almighty give you mercy before the man, that he may send away your other brother, and Benjamin. If I be bereaved of my children, I am bereaved.
Then Joseph {hurried away}, {being overcome with emotion} toward his brother, and sought for [a place] to cry. Then he went into a room and wept there.
As soon as the morning was light, the men were sent away, they and their asses.
When they had left the city, and were not yet far away, Joseph said to his steward, “Get up, follow after the men; and when you overtake them, say to them, ‘Why have you repaid evil [to us] for good [paid to you]?
And we said to my lord, His father will not let him go; for if he went away his father would come to his death.
The one went away from me, and I said, Truly he has come to a violent death; and from that time I have not seen him,
Joseph could no longer keep his composure in front of all his attendants, so he called out, “Send everyone away from me!” No one was with him when he revealed his identity to his brothers.
Now do not be troubled or angry with yourselves for sending me away, because God sent me before you to be the saviour of your lives.
Now go quickly to my father, and say to him, Your son Joseph says, God has made me ruler over all the land of Egypt: come down to me straight away:
So he sent his brethren away, and they departed: and he said unto them, See that ye fall not out by the way.
And they speak unto him all the words of Joseph, which he hath spoken unto them, and he seeth the waggons which Joseph hath sent to bear him away, and live doth the spirit of Jacob their father;
And Jacob riseth from Beer-Sheba, and the sons of Israel bear away Jacob their father, And their infants, and their wives, in the waggons which Pharaoh hath sent to bear him,
But there was no food in all the land because the famine was very severe; the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan wasted away because of the famine.
When I rest with my fathers, carry me away from Egypt and bury me in their burial place.”Joseph answered, “I will do what you have asked.”
Take no part in their secrets, O my soul; keep far away, O my heart, from their meetings; for in their wrath they put men to death, and for their pleasure even oxen were wounded.
Naphtali is a hind sent away, Who is giving beauteous young ones.
And the days of his weeping pass away, and Joseph speaketh unto the house of Pharaoh, saying, 'If, I pray you, I have found grace in your eyes, speak, I pray you, in the ears of Pharaoh, saying,
and his sons bear him away to the land of Canaan, and bury him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field for a possession of a burying-place, from Ephron the Hittite, on the front of Mamre.
‘You are to say to Joseph, “I beg you, please forgive the transgression of your brothers and their sin, for they did you wrong.”’ Now, please forgive the transgression of the servants of the God of your father.” And Joseph wept when they spoke to him.
Then Joseph made the children of Israel take an oath, saying, God will certainly give effect to his word, and you are to take my bones away from here.
