'Lips' in the Bible
Put away from you a deceitful mouthAnd put devious speech far from you.
That you may observe discretionAnd your lips may reserve knowledge.
For the lips of an adulteress drip honeyAnd smoother than oil is her speech;
With her many persuasions she entices him;With her flattering lips she seduces him.
“Listen, for I will speak noble things;And the opening of my lips will reveal right things.
“For my mouth will utter truth;And wickedness is an abomination to my lips.
On the lips of the discerning, wisdom is found,But a rod is for the back of him who lacks understanding.
He who conceals hatred has lying lips,And he who spreads slander is a fool.
When there are many words, transgression is unavoidable,But he who restrains his lips is wise.
The lips of the righteous feed many,But fools die for lack of understanding.
The lips of the righteous bring forth what is acceptable,But the mouth of the wicked what is perverted.
An evil man is ensnared by the transgression of his lips,But the righteous will escape from trouble.
Truthful lips will be established forever,But a lying tongue is only for a moment.
Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord,But those who deal faithfully are His delight.
The one who guards his mouth preserves his life;The one who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.
In the mouth of the foolish is a rod for his back,But the lips of the wise will protect them.
The lips of the wise spread knowledge,But the hearts of fools are not so.
A divine decision is in the lips of the king;His mouth should not err in judgment.
Righteous lips are the delight of kings,And he who speaks right is loved.
The heart of the wise instructs his mouthAnd adds persuasiveness to his lips.
He who winks his eyes does so to devise perverse things;He who compresses his lips brings evil to pass.
An evildoer listens to wicked lips;A liar pays attention to a destructive tongue.
Excellent speech is not fitting for a fool,Much less are lying lips to a prince.
Even a fool, when he keeps silent, is considered wise;When he closes his lips, he is considered prudent.
A fool’s lips bring strife,And his mouth calls for blows.
A fool’s mouth is his ruin,And his lips are the snare of his soul.
With the fruit of a man’s mouth his stomach will be satisfied;He will be satisfied with the product of his lips.
There is gold, and an abundance of jewels;But the lips of knowledge are a more precious thing.
For it will be pleasant if you keep them within you,That they may be ready on your lips.
And my inmost being will rejoiceWhen your lips speak what is right.
For their minds devise violence,And their lips talk of trouble.
He kisses the lipsWho gives a right answer.
Do not be a witness against your neighbor without cause,And do not deceive with your lips.
Like an earthen vessel overlaid with silver drossAre burning lips and a wicked heart.
He who hates disguises it with his lips,But he lays up deceit in his heart.
Let another praise you, and not your own mouth;A stranger, and not your own lips.
