'Men' in the Bible
and he says to them, Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men.
Ye are the salt of the earth; but if the salt have become insipid, wherewith shall it be salted? It is no longer fit for anything but to be cast out and to be trodden under foot by men.
Nor do men light a lamp and put it under the bushel, but upon the lamp-stand, and it shines for all who are in the house.
Let your light thus shine before men, so that they may see your upright works, and glorify your Father who is in the heavens.
Whosoever then shall do away with one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of the heavens; but whosoever shall practise and teach them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of the heavens.
Take heed not to do your alms before men to be seen of them, otherwise ye have no reward with your Father who is in the heavens.
When therefore thou doest alms, sound not a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may have glory from men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites; for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets so that they should appear to men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
For if ye forgive men their offences, your heavenly Father also will forgive you yours,
but if ye do not forgive men their offences, neither will your Father forgive your offences.
And when ye fast, be not as the hypocrites, downcast in countenance; for they disfigure their faces, so that they may appear fasting to men: verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
so that thou mayest not appear fasting unto men, but to thy Father who is in secret; and thy Father who sees in secret shall render it to thee.
Therefore all things whatever ye desire that men should do to you, thus do ye also do to them; for this is the law and the prophets.
By their fruits ye shall know them. Do men gather a bunch of grapes from thorns, or from thistles figs?
But the men were astonished, saying, What sort of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him?
But the crowds seeing it, were in fear, and glorified God who gave such power to men.
But go and learn what that is I will have mercy and not sacrifice; for I have not come to call righteous men but sinners.
Nor do men put new wine into old skins, otherwise the skins burst and the wine is poured out, and the skins will be destroyed; but they put new wine into new skins, and both are preserved together.
And as Jesus passed on thence, two blind men followed him, crying and saying, Have mercy on us, Son of David.
And when he was come to the house, the blind men came to him. And Jesus says to them, Do ye believe that I am able to do this? They say to him, Yea, Lord.
But beware of men; for they will deliver you up to sanhedrims, and scourge you in their synagogues;
Every one therefore who shall confess me before men, I also will confess him before my Father who is in the heavens.
But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father who is in the heavens.
Blind men see and lame walk; lepers are cleansed, and deaf hear; and dead are raised, and poor have glad tidings preached to them:
For this reason I say unto you, Every sin and injurious speaking shall be forgiven to men, but speaking injuriously of the Spirit shall not be forgiven to men.
But I say unto you, that every idle word which men shall say, they shall render an account of it in judgment-day:
for verily I say unto you, that many prophets and righteous men have desired to see the things which ye behold and did not see them, and to hear the things which ye hear and did not hear them.
but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed darnel amongst the wheat, and went away.
But those that had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children.
And when the men of that place recognised him, they sent to that whole country around, and they brought to him all that were ill,
but in vain do they worship me, teaching as teachings commandments of men.
but they that ate were four thousand men, besides women and children.
But when Jesus was come into the parts of Caesarea-Philippi, he demanded of his disciples, saying, Who do men say that I the Son of man am?
But turning round, he said to Peter, Get away behind me, Satan; thou art an offence to me, for thy mind is not on the things that are of God, but on the things that are of men.
And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said to them, The Son of man is about to be delivered up into the hands of men,
for there are eunuchs which have been born thus from their mother's womb; and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs of men; and there are eunuchs who have made eunuchs of themselves for the sake of the kingdom of the heavens. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.
But Jesus, looking on them, said to them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
And lo, two blind men, sitting by the wayside, having heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out saying, Have mercy on us, Lord, Son of David.
The baptism of John, whence was it? of heaven or of men? And they reasoned among themselves, saying, If we should say, Of heaven, he will say to us, Why then have ye not believed him?
but if we should say, Of men, we fear the crowd, for all hold John for a prophet.
They say to him, He will miserably destroy those evil men, and let out the vineyard to other husbandmen, who shall render him the fruits in their seasons.
but bind burdens heavy and hard to bear, and lay them on the shoulders of men, but will not move them with their finger.
And all their works they do to be seen of men: for they make broad their phylacteries and enlarge the borders of their garments,
and salutations in the market-places, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.
But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for ye shut up the kingdom of the heavens before men; for ye do not enter, nor do ye suffer those that are entering to go in.
Thus also ye, outwardly ye appear righteous to men, but within are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.
Therefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes; and some of them ye will kill and crucify, and some of them ye will scourge in your synagogues, and will persecute from city to city;
And for fear of him the guards trembled and became as dead men.
