'Vulture' in the Bible
“You are to detest these birds. They must not be eaten because they are detestable:the eagle, the bearded vulture,the black vulture,
And the vulture, and the kite after his kind;
and the swan, and the pelican, and the carrion vulture,
but these are the ones you may not eat:the eagle, the bearded vulture,the black vulture,
And the glede, and the kite, and the vulture after his kind,
the pelican, the carrion vulture, the cormorant,
"The LORD will raise a distant nation against you from the other side of the earth. Swooping down like a vulture,
I am like a [mournful] vulture of the wilderness;I am like a [desolate] owl of the wasteland.
"Sound the ram's horn! Like a vulture the enemy will come against the Temple of the LORD, because Israel violated my covenant, transgressing my Law.
Shave your heads, and cut off your hair for the children of your delight. Enlarge your baldness like the vulture; for they have gone into captivity from you!
Their horses are faster than leopards and more alert than wolves in the desert. Their horses gallop, their horses come a great distance; like a vulture they swoop down quickly to devour their prey.
