'Without' in the Bible
The Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man fearing God and turning away from evil. And he still holds fast his integrity, although you incited Me against him to ruin him without cause.”
‘Is not their tent-cord plucked up within them?They die, yet without wisdom.’
Who does great and unsearchable things,Wonders without number.
“Can something tasteless be eaten without salt,Or is there any taste in the white of an egg?
“My days are swifter than a weaver’s shuttle,And come to an end without hope.
“Can the papyrus grow up without a marsh?Can the rushes grow without water?
“Wise in heart and mighty in strength,Who has defied Him without harm?
Who does great things, unfathomable,And wondrous works without number.
“For He bruises me with a tempestAnd multiplies my wounds without cause.
The land of utter gloom as darkness itself,Of deep shadow without order,And which shines as the darkness.”
“For He knows false men,And He sees iniquity without investigating.
“Then, indeed, you could lift up your face without moral defect,And you would be steadfast and not fear.
“His arrows surround me.Without mercy He splits my kidneys open;He pours out my gall on the ground.
“His ox mates without fail;His cow calves and does not abort.
“For you have taken pledges of your brothers without cause,And stripped men naked.
“They spend the night naked, without clothing,And have no covering against the cold.
“They cause the poor to go about naked without clothing,And they take away the sheaves from the hungry.
“What a help you are to the weak!How you have saved the arm without strength!
“What counsel you have given to one without wisdom!What helpful insight you have abundantly provided!
“For it will hurl at him without sparing;He will surely try to flee from its power.
“I go about mourning without comfort;I stand up in the assembly and cry out for help.
If I have eaten its fruit without money,Or have caused its owners to lose their lives,
‘I am pure, without transgression;I am innocent and there is no guilt in me.
Should I lie concerning my right?My wound is incurable, though I am without transgression.’
“In a moment they die, and at midnightPeople are shaken and pass away,And the mighty are taken away without a hand.
“He breaks in pieces mighty men without inquiry,And sets others in their place.
‘Job speaks without knowledge,And his words are without wisdom.
So Job opens his mouth emptily;He multiplies words without knowledge.”
“But if they do not hear, they shall perish by the swordAnd they will die without knowledge.
“Who is this that darkens counselBy words without knowledge?
To bring rain on a land without people,On a desert without a man in it,
“Who prepares for the raven its nourishmentWhen its young cry to GodAnd wander about without food?
“Nothing on earth is like him,One made without fear.
‘Who is this that hides counsel without knowledge?’Therefore I have declared that which I did not understand,Things too wonderful for me, which I did not know.”
