1 For the choir director; (a)according to Jeduthun. A Psalm of David.(A)My soul waits in silence for God only; From Him (B)is my salvation.

1 {To the chief Musician, to Jeduthun, A Psalm of David.} Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation.

1 My soul rests quietly only when it looks to God; from him comes my deliverance.

1 For God alone my soul waits in silence; From Him comes my salvation.

2 He alone is my rock and my salvation,(C)my stronghold; I will never be shaken.(D)

2 He only is my (C)rock and my salvation,My (D)stronghold; I shall not be greatly shaken.

2 He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.

2 He alone is my rock, my deliverance, and my high tower; nothing will shake me.

2 He alone is my rock and my salvation,My defense and my strong tower; I will not be shaken or disheartened.

3 How long will you threaten a man? Will all of you attack(a)as if he were a leaning wallor a tottering stone fence?(E)

3 How long will you assail a man,That you may murder him, all of you,Like a (E)leaning wall, like a tottering fence?

3 How long will ye imagine mischief against a man? ye shall be slain all of you: as a bowing wall shall ye be, and as a tottering fence.

3 How long will you rage against someone? Would you attack him as if he were a leaning wall or a tottering fence?

3 How long will you attack a manSo that you may murder him, all of you,Like a leaning wall, like a tottering fence?

4 They only plan to bring him downfrom his high position. They take pleasure in lying;they bless with their mouths, but they curse inwardly.(F)Selah

4 They have counseled only to thrust him down from his high position; They (F)delight in falsehood; They (G)bless with (b)their mouth,But inwardly they curse. (c)Selah.

4 They only consult to cast him down from his excellency: they delight in lies: they bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah.

4 They plan to cast him down from his exalted position. They delight in lies; their mouth utters blessings, while their heart is cursing. Interlude

4 They consult only to throw him down from his high position [to dishonor him];They delight in lies. They bless with [the words of] their mouths,But inwardly they curse. Selah.

5 Rest in God alone, my soul, for my hope comes from Him.(G)

5 My soul, (H)wait in silence for God only,For my hope is from Him.

5 My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.

5 My soul, be quiet before God, for from him comes my hope.

5 For God alone my soul waits in silence and quietly submits to Him,For my hope is from Him.

6 He alone is my rock and my salvation,(H)my stronghold; I will not be shaken.(I)

6 He only is (I)my rock and my salvation,My stronghold; I shall not be shaken.

6 He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.

6 He alone is my rock, my deliverance, and my high tower; nothing will shake me.

6 He only is my rock and my salvation; My fortress and my defense, I will not be shaken or discouraged.

7 My salvation and glory depend on God, my strong rock.My refuge is in God.(J)

7 On God my (J)salvation and my glory rest; The rock of my strength, my (K)refuge is in God.

7 In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.

7 I rely on God who is my deliverance and my glory; he is my strong rock, and my refuge is in God.

7 On God my salvation and my glory rest;He is my rock of [unyielding] strength, my refuge is in God.

8 Trust in Him at all times, you people;pour out your hearts before Him.God is our refuge.(K)Selah

8 (L)Trust in Him at all times, O people;(M)Pour out your heart before Him;God is a refuge for us. Selah.

8 People, in every situation put your trust in God; pour out your heart before him; for God is a refuge for us. Interlude

8 Trust [confidently] in Him at all times, O people;Pour out your heart before Him.God is a refuge for us. Selah.

9 Men are only a vapor;exalted men, an illusion.Weighed in the scales, they go up;together they are less than a vapor.(L)

9 Men of (N)low degree are only (O)vanity and men of rank are a (P)lie; In the (Q)balances they go up;They are together lighter than breath.

9 Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: to be laid in the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity.

9 Human beings are a mere vapor, while people in high positions are not what they appear. When they are placed on the scales, they weigh nothing; even when weighed together, they are less than nothing.

9 Men of low degree are only a breath (emptiness), and men of [high] rank are a lie (delusion). In the balances they go up [because they have no measurable weight or value];They are together lighter than a breath.

10 Place no trust in oppression,or false hope in robbery. If wealth increases, pay no attention to it.(b)(M)

10 (R)Do not trust in oppressionAnd do not (d)vainly hope in (S)robbery; If riches increase, (T)do not set your heart upon them.

10 Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them.

10 Don't trust in oppression or put false hope in stealing; if you become wealthy, do not set your heart on it.

10 Do not trust in oppression,And do not vainly hope in robbery; If riches increase, do not set your heart on them.

11 God has spoken once;I have heard this twice:strength belongs to God,(N)

11 (e)Once God has (U)spoken;(f)Twice I have heard this:That (V)power belongs to God;

11 God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.

11 God spoke once, but I heard it twice, "Power belongs to God."

11 God has spoken once,Twice I have heard this:That power belongs to God.

12 and faithful love belongs to You, Lord. For You repay each according to his works.(O)

12 And lovingkindness (W)is Yours, O Lord,For You (X)recompense a man according to his work.

12 Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work.

12 Also to you, Lord, belongs gracious love, because you reward each person according to what he does. A Davidic Psalm, while he was in the Judean wilderness.

12 Also to You, O Lord, belong lovingkindness and compassion,For You compensate every man according to [the value of] his work.(A)
