And there began an exceeding cruel battle that same day. But Abner and the men of Israel were put to the worse of the servants of David.

And thereto he used to rise up early in the mornings and to stand by the wayside that led to the gate of the city. Why then did ye despise us, that our advice had not been first had in restoring our king again?" And the words of the men of Judah were fiercer than the words of the men of Israel.
