My son, do not reject the discipline of the LORD Or loathe His reproof, For whom the LORD loves He reproves, Even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights.

and you have forgotten the exhortation which is addressed to you as sons,
My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord,
Nor faint when you are reproved by Him;

But when we are judged, we are disciplined by the Lord so that we will not be condemned along with the world.


Man is also chastened with pain on his bed,
And with unceasing complaint in his bones;


Correct me, O Lord, but with justice;
Not with Your anger, or You will bring me to nothing.

He who chastens the nations, will He not rebuke, Even He who teaches man knowledge? The LORD knows the thoughts of man, That they are a mere breath.

The Lord has disciplined me severely,
But He has not given me over to death.

It is for discipline that you endure; God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline? But if you are without discipline, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them, but He disciplines us for our good, so that we may share His holiness.

"Surely such are the dwellings of the wicked, And this is the place of him who does not know God."

Pour out Your wrath on the nations that do not know You And on the families that do not call Your name; For they have devoured Jacob; They have devoured him and consumed him And have laid waste his habitation.

and to give relief to you who are afflicted and to us as well when the Lord Jesus will be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire, dealing out retribution to those who do not know God and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. These will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,
