Now Joseph was the governor over the land. He [was] the one who sold [food] to all the people of the land. And the brothers of Joseph came and bowed down to him with their faces to the ground.
On the third day, a man came from the camp from [being with] Saul, with his clothes torn and with dirt on his head. {When he came} to David, he fell to the ground and bowed down.
Let [the] desert dwellers bow down before him, and his enemies lick the dust.
And he himself passed on before them and bowed down to the ground seven times until he came to his brother.
And when Joseph came into the house they brought the gift that [was] in their hand into the house to him, and they bowed down before him to the ground. And {he greeted them} and said, "Is your father well, the old man of whom you spoke? Is he still alive?" And they said, "Your servant our father [is] well; he is still alive." Be very strong to observe carefully all that is written in the scroll of the law of Moses so as not to turn aside from it, [to] the right or left, so as not to go among these remaining nations with you; {do not profess} the name of their gods, and do not swear by them, serve them, or {bow down to them}.
