'Abide' in the Bible
“Others have been with those who rebel against the light;They do not want to know its waysNor abide in its paths.
A Psalm of David.O Lord, who may abide in Your tent?Who may dwell on Your holy hill?
His soul will abide in prosperity,And his descendants will inherit the land.
Depart from evil and do good,So you will abide forever.
You will prolong the king’s life;His years will be as many generations.
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most HighWill abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
But You, O Lord, abide forever,And Your name to all generations.
He makes the barren woman abide in the houseAs a joyful mother of children.Praise the Lord!
Then justice will dwell in the wildernessAnd righteousness will abide in the fertile field.
And whatever city or village you enter, inquire who is worthy in it, and stay at his house until you leave that city.
So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine;
Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me.
If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned.
If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love.
If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.
‘Therefore my heart was glad and my tongue exulted;Moreover my flesh also will live in hope;
But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love.
For as many as are of the works of the Law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not abide by all things written in the book of the law, to perform them.”
As for you, let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father.
As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him.
Now, little children, abide in Him, so that when He appears, we may have confidence and not shrink away from Him in shame at His coming.
But whoever has the world’s goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him?
By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.
Anyone who goes too far and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God; the one who abides in the teaching, he has both the Father and the Son.
