'Glad' in the Bible
But I make no account of my life as dear to myself, so that I finish my course, and the ministry which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the glad tidings of the grace of God.
And when he had said how glad he was to see them, he gave them a detailed account of the things which God had done through his work among the Gentiles.
When the governor motioned to him to speak, Paul replied: “Because I know you have been a judge of this nation for many years, I am glad to offer my defense in what concerns me.
But we should be glad to hear from you what it is that you believe; for as for this sect all we know is that it is everywhere spoken against."
Paul, bondman of Jesus Christ, a called apostle, separated to God's glad tidings,
For God is my witness, whom I serve in my spirit in the glad tidings of his Son, how unceasingly I make mention of you,
so, as far as depends on me, am I ready to announce the glad tidings to you also who are in Rome.
For I am not ashamed of the glad tidings; for it is God's power to salvation, to every one that believes, both to Jew first and to Greek:
in the day when God shall judge the secrets of men, according to my glad tidings, by Jesus Christ.
And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
But they have not all obeyed the glad tidings. For Esaias says, Lord, who has believed our report?
As regards the glad tidings, they are enemies on your account; but as regards election, beloved on account of the fathers.
Being glad in hope, quiet in trouble, at all times given to prayer,
Take part in the joy of those who are glad, and in the grief of those who are sorrowing.
And again the Psalmist says, "Be glad, ye Gentiles, in company with His People."
for me to be minister of Christ Jesus to the nations, carrying on as a sacrificial service the message of glad tidings of God, in order that the offering up of the nations might be acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.
in the power of signs and wonders, in the power of the Spirit of God; so that I, from Jerusalem, and in a circuit round to Illyricum, have fully preached the glad tidings of the Christ;
and so aiming to announce the glad tidings, not where Christ has been named, that I might not build upon another's foundation;
in order that if God be willing I may come to you with a glad heart, and may enjoy a time of rest with you.
For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil.
Now to him that is able to establish you, according to my glad tidings and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, as to which silence has been kept in the times of the ages,
For Christ has not sent me to baptise, but to preach glad tidings; not in wisdom of word, that the cross of the Christ may not be made vain.
For even now you are full, even now you have wealth, you have been made kings without us: truly, I would be glad if you were kings, so that we might be kings with you.
For if ye should have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet not many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the glad tidings.
And for those who are in sorrow, to give no signs of it; and for those who are glad, to give no signs of joy; and for those who are getting property, to be as if they had nothing;
If others partake of this right over you, should not rather we? But we have not used this right, but we bear all things, that we may put no hindrance in the way of the glad tidings of the Christ.
So also the Lord has ordained to those that announce the glad tidings to live of the glad tidings.
For if I announce the glad tidings, I have nothing to boast of; for a necessity is laid upon me; for it is woe to me if I should not announce the glad tidings.
What is the reward then that I have? That in announcing the glad tidings I make the glad tidings costless to others, so as not to have made use, as belonging to me, of my right in announcing the glad tidings.
And I do all things for the sake of the glad tidings, that I may be fellow-partaker with them.
And if there is pain in one part of the body, all the parts will be feeling it; or if one part is honoured, all the parts will be glad.
is never glad with sin; she's always glad to side with truth, and pleased that truth will win.
I should be right glad were you all to speak in 'tongues,' but yet more glad were you all to prophesy. And, in fact, the man who prophesies is superior to him who speaks in 'tongues,' except when the latter can interpret in order that the Church may get a blessing.
But I make known to you, brethren, the glad tidings which I announced to you, which also ye received, in which also ye stand,
by which also ye are saved, (if ye hold fast the word which I announced to you as the glad tidings,) unless indeed ye have believed in vain.
I am glad of the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus: for that which was lacking on your part they have supplied.
For if I make you sorry, who is he then that maketh me glad, but the same which is made sorry by me?
And I wrote this same thing to you, so that when I came, I would not be filled with sorrow by those who ought to make me glad, for I trusted in you and felt confident that my joy would be shared by all of you.

But even if our gospel is [in some sense] hidden [behind a veil], it is hidden [only] to those who are perishing;
in whom the god of this world has blinded the thoughts of the unbelieving, so that the radiancy of the glad tidings of the glory of the Christ, who is the image of God, should not shine forth for them.
As full of sorrow, but ever glad; as poor, but giving wealth to others; as having nothing, but still having all things.
And not by his coming only, but by the comfort which he had in you, while he gave us word of your desire, your sorrow, your care for me; so that I was still more glad.
yet I am glad now, not because you were hurt and made sorry, but because your sorrow led to repentance [and you turned back to God]; for you felt a grief such as God meant you to feel, so that you might not suffer loss in anything on our account.
So we have been comforted: and we had the greater joy in our comfort because of the joy of Titus, for his spirit had been made glad by you all.
but we have sent with him the brother whose praise is in the glad tidings through all the assemblies;
they glorifying God through the proof of this ministration, by reason of your subjection, by profession, to the glad tidings of the Christ, and your free-hearted liberality in communicating towards them and towards all;
For we do not, as not reaching to you, overstretch ourselves, (for we have come to you also in the glad tidings of the Christ;)
to announce the glad tidings to that which is beyond you, not to be boasting in another's rule of things made ready to hand.
For if indeed he that comes preaches another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or ye get a different Spirit, which ye have not got, or a different glad tidings, which ye have not received, ye might well bear with it.
Have I committed sin, abasing myself in order that ye might be exalted, because I gratuitously announced to you the glad tidings of God?
I will be very glad to spend my money and myself for you. Do you love me less because I love you so much?
For we are glad, when we are weak, and ye are strong: and this also we wish, even your perfection.
Let this be my last word, brothers; be glad; be complete; be comforted; be of the same mind; be at peace with one another: and the God of love and peace will be with you.
which is not another one; but there are some that trouble you, and desire to pervert the glad tidings of the Christ.
But if even we or an angel out of heaven announce as glad tidings to you anything besides what we have announced as glad tidings to you, let him be accursed.
As we have said before, now also again I say, If any one announce to you as glad tidings anything besides what ye have received, let him be accursed.
But I let you know, brethren, as to the glad tidings which were announced by me, that they are not according to man.
was pleased to reveal his Son in me, that I may announce him as glad tidings among the nations, immediately I took not counsel with flesh and blood,
only they were hearing that he who persecuted us formerly now announces the glad tidings of the faith which formerly he ravaged:

But when I saw that they do not walk straightforwardly, according to the truth of the glad tidings, I said to Peter before all, If thou, being a Jew, livest as the nations and not as the Jews, how dost thou compel the nations to Judaize?
and the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the nations on the principle of faith, announced beforehand the glad tidings to Abraham: In thee all the nations shall be blessed.
But ye know that in weakness of the flesh I announced the glad tidings to you at the first;
For it is in the Writings, You who have never given birth, be glad; give cries of joy, you who have had no birth-pains; for the children of her who has been given up by her husband are more than those of the woman who has a husband.
in whom ye also have trusted, having heard the word of the truth, the glad tidings of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, ye have been sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,
and, coming, he has preached the glad tidings of peace to you who were afar off, and the glad tidings of peace to those who were nigh.
that they who are of the nations should be joint heirs, and a joint body, and joint partakers of his promise in Christ Jesus by the glad tidings;
To me, less than the least of all saints, has this grace been given, to announce among the nations the glad tidings of the unsearchable riches of the Christ,
and shod your feet with the preparation of the glad tidings of peace:
and for me in order that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth to make known with boldness the mystery of the glad tidings,
as it is righteous for me to think this as to you all, because ye have me in your hearts, and that both in my bonds and in the defence and confirmation of the glad tidings ye are all participators in my grace.
But I would have you know, brethren, that the circumstances in which I am have turned out rather to the furtherance of the glad tidings,
These indeed out of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the glad tidings;
What then? only that in every way, falsely or truly, the preaching of Christ goes on; and in this I am glad, and will be glad.
Only conduct yourselves worthily of the glad tidings of the Christ, in order that whether coming and seeing you, or absent, I may hear of what concerns you, that ye stand firm in one spirit, with one soul, labouring together in the same conflict with the faith of the glad tidings;
But even if I am poured out as a drink offering on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you.
And in the same way you also should be glad and rejoice together with me.
But ye know the proof of him, that, as a child a father, he has served with me in the work of the glad tidings.
I am therefore all the more eager to send him, in the hope that when you see him again you may be glad and I may have the less sorrow.
For the rest, my brothers, be glad in the Lord. Writing the same things to you is no trouble to me, and for you it is safe.
yea, I ask thee also, true yokefellow, assist them, who have contended along with me in the glad tidings, with Clement also, and my other fellow-labourers, whose names are in the book of life.
Be glad in the Lord at all times: again I say, Be glad.

but even as we have been approved of God to have the glad tidings entrusted to us, so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, who proves our hearts.
Thus, yearning over you, we had found our delight in having imparted to you not only the glad tidings of God, but our own lives also, because ye had become beloved of us.
For ye remember, brethren, our labour and toil: working night and day, not to be chargeable to any one of you, we have preached to you the glad tidings of God.
and sent Timotheus, our brother and fellow-workman under God in the glad tidings of Christ, to confirm you and encourage you concerning your faith,
But Timotheus having just come to us from you, and brought to us the glad tidings of your faith and love, and that ye have always good remembrance of us, desiring much to see us, even as we also you;
For how great is the praise which we give to God for you, and how great the joy with which we are glad because of you before our God;
in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who know not God, and those who do not obey the glad tidings of our Lord Jesus Christ;
whereto he has called you by our glad tidings, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
according to the glad tidings of the glory of the blessed God, with which I have been entrusted.
Be not therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner; but suffer evil along with the glad tidings, according to the power of God;
