'May' in the Bible
“May that day be darkness;Let not God above care for it,Nor light shine on it.
“For He is not a man as I am that I may answer Him,That we may go to court together.
“There is no umpire between us,Who may lay his hand upon us both.
“Would He not let my few days alone?Withdraw from me that I may have a little cheer
“Be silent before me so that I may speak; Then let come on me what may.
“This also will be my salvation,For a godless man may not come before His presence.
“Turn Your gaze from him that he may rest,Until he fulfills his day like a hired man.
“Then be afraid of the sword for yourselves,For wrath brings the punishment of the sword,So that you may know there is judgment.”
“He may flee from the iron weapon,But the bronze bow will pierce him.
“Bear with me that I may speak; Then after I have spoken, you may mock.
“You say, ‘God stores away a man’s iniquity for his sons.’Let God repay him so that he may know it.
“May my enemy be as the wickedAnd my opponent as the unjust.
He may prepare it, but the just will wear itAnd the innocent will divide the silver.
May my wife grind for another,And let others kneel down over her.
“The abundant in years may not be wise,Nor may elders understand justice.
That He may turn man aside from his conduct,And keep man from pride;
Then he will pray to God, and He will accept him,That he may see His face with joy,And He may restore His righteousness to man.
To bring back his soul from the pit,That he may be enlightened with the light of life.
“There is no darkness or deep shadowWhere the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.
“He seals the hand of every man,That all men may know His work.
“It changes direction, turning around by His guidance,That it may do whatever He commands itOn the face of the inhabited earth.
That you may take it to its territoryAnd that you may discern the paths to its home?
“Can you lift up your voice to the clouds,So that an abundance of water will cover you?
“Can you send forth lightnings that they may goAnd say to you, ‘Here we are’?
And she forgets that a foot may crush them,Or that a wild beast may trample them.
“Will you really annul My judgment? Will you condemn Me that you may be justified?
Now therefore, take for yourselves seven bulls and seven rams, and go to My servant Job, and offer up a burnt offering for yourselves, and My servant Job will pray for you. For I will accept him so that I may not do with you according to your folly, because you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has.”
