'Sound' in the Bible
Pay attention to the sound of my cry,my King and my God,for I pray to You.
Depart from me, all evildoers,for the Lord has heard the sound of my weeping.
There is no speech and there are no words; their sound is inaudible.
To sound with a voice of confession, And to recount all Thy wonders.
Listen to the sound of my pleadingwhen I cry to You for help,when I lift up my handstoward Your holy sanctuary.
May the Lord be praised,for He has heard the sound of my pleading.
In my alarm I had said,“I am cut off from Your sight.”But You heard the sound of my pleadingwhen I cried to You for help.
Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud sound.
I made no sound, I said no word, even of good; and I was moved with sorrow.
These things I [vividly] remember as I pour out my soul;How I used to go along before the great crowd of people and lead them in procession to the house of God [like a choirmaster before his singers, timing the steps to the music and the chant of the song],With the voice of joy and thanksgiving, a great crowd keeping a festival.
Deep calls to deep at the sound of Your waterfalls;All Your breakers and Your waves have rolled over me.
The nations were angry, the kingdoms were moved; at the sound of his voice the earth became like wax.
God is gone up with a shout, the LORD with the sound of a trumpet.
that does not listen to the sound of the charmerswho skillfully weave spells.
Who makes the loud voice of the sea quiet, and puts an end to the sound of its waves.
Praise our God, you peoples;let the sound of His praise be heard.
However, God has listened;He has paid attention to the sound of my prayer.
Sound your battle cry against the wild beast of the reeds, and the nations that assemble like a herd of calves led by bulls! They humble themselves and offer gold and silver as tribute. God scatters the nations that like to do battle.
Do not forget the sound of your adversaries, the roar of those rising up against you ascending continually.
At the sound of your battle cry, God of Jacob, both horse and chariot rider fell into deep sleep.
From heaven you gave your decision; the earth, in its fear, gave no sound,
The clouds poured out water: the skies sent out a sound: thine arrows also went abroad.
The sound of Your thunder was in the whirlwind;lightning lit up the world.The earth shook and quaked.
Raise a song, and sound the tambour, the pleasant harp with the lute.
Sound the ram's horn on the day of the new moon, and on the day of the full moon when our festival begins.
Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance.
Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound.
More than the sound of surging waters the majestic waves of the sea the LORD on high is majestic.
Sing praises to the Lord with the lyre,With the lyre and the sound of melody.
With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the LORD, the King.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; sound understanding belongs to those who practice it. Praise of God endures forever.
They have hands but cannot feel,feet, but cannot walk.They cannot make a sound with their throats.
The sound of joyful shouting and salvation is in the tents of the righteous;The right hand of the Lord does valiantly.

Like the sound of thorns under a pot, so also the laughter of fools. This also [is] vanity!
Furthermore, in your bedchamber do not curse a king, and in your sleeping rooms do not curse a rich man, for a bird of the heavens will carry the sound and the winged creature will make the matter known.
And the doors shall be shut in the streets, when the sound of the grinding is low, and he shall rise up at the voice of the bird, and all the daughters of musick shall be brought low;

From the sole of the foot even to the headThere is nothing sound in it,Only bruises, welts and raw wounds,Not pressed out or bandaged,Nor softened with oil.
The sound of their armies will be like the voice of a lion, and their war-cry like the noise of young lions: with loud cries they will come down on their food and will take it away safely, and there will be no one to take it out of their hands.
At that time they will growl over their prey, it will sound like sea waves crashing against rocks. One will look out over the land and see the darkness of disaster, clouds will turn the light into darkness.
The foundations of the doorways shook at the sound of their voices, and the temple was filled with smoke.

A sound of tumult on the mountains,Like that of many people!A sound of the uproar of kingdoms,Of nations gathered together!The Lord of hosts is mustering the army for battle.
Your splendor has been brought down to Sheol, as well as the sound of your stringed instruments. You lie on a bed of maggots, with a blanket of worms over you.
Gladness and joy are taken away from the fruitful field;In the vineyards there will be no singing or joyful sound;No treader treads out wine in the presses,For I (God) put an end to the joyful shouting.

So the Lord's word to them will sound like meaningless gibberish, senseless babbling, a syllable here, a syllable there. As a result, they will fall on their backsides when they try to walk, and be injured, ensnared, and captured.
This insight also comes from the LORD of the Heavenly Armies, who is distinguished in practical advice and magnificent in sound wisdom."
You will fall; while lying on the ground you will speak; from the dust where you lie, your words will be heard. Your voice will sound like a spirit speaking from the underworld; from the dust you will chirp as if muttering an incantation.
You will be punished by Yahweh of hosts with thunder and earthquake and great sound, storm wind and tempest and [the] flame of a devouring fire.
For you people will live on Zion in Jerusalem and will never cry again. He will show favor to you at the sound of your cry; when He hears, He will answer you.
You will have songs as in the night when you keep the festival,And gladness of heart as when one marches to the sound of the flute,To go to the mountain of the Lord, to the Rock of Israel.
And the Lord will send out the sound of his great voice, and they will see his arm stretched out, with the heat of his wrath, and the flame of a burning fire; with a cloud-burst, and storm, and a rain of ice.
And every stroke of the appointed staffthat the Lord brings down on himwill be to the sound of tambourines and lyres;He will fight against him with brandished weapons.
The hearts of reckless people will understand sound judgment, and the tongues of those who stammer will be ready to speak clearly.
At the sound of the tumult peoples flee;At the lifting up of Yourself nations disperse.
Let the waste land and its flocks be glad, the tent-circles of Kedar; let the people of the rock give a glad cry, from the top of the mountains let them make a sound of joy.
Go forth from Babylon! Flee from the Chaldeans!Declare with the sound of joyful shouting, proclaim this,Send it out to the end of the earth;Say, “The Lord has redeemed His servant Jacob.”
For the LORD will have compassion on Zion, have compassion on all her ruins. He will make her wilderness like Eden, and her deserts like the garden of the LORD. Joy and gladness will be found in her, thanksgiving, and the sound of singing. Sorrow and sighing will flee away.
Men were cruel to him, but he was gentle and quiet; as a lamb taken to its death, and as a sheep before those who take her wool makes no sound, so he said not a word.

A sound of uproar from the city!A voice from the temple—the voice of the Lord,paying back His enemies what they deserve!
A sound is heard on the barren heights,the children of Israel weeping and begging for mercy,for they have perverted their way;they have forgotten the Lord their God.
Declare in Judah, and in Jerusalem sound, And say ye, 'Blow a trumpet in the land,' Call ye fully, and say ye: 'Be gathered, and we go in to the fenced city.'
Make ye mention to the nations, Lo, sound ye to Jerusalem: 'Besiegers are coming from the land afar off, And they give forth against cities of Judah their voice.
My bowels, my bowels! I am pained at my very heart; my heart maketh a noise in me; I cannot hold my peace, because thou hast heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.
How long shall I see the standard, and hear the sound of the trumpet?
Every city fleesat the sound of the horseman and the archer.They enter the thicketsand climb among the rocks.Every city is abandoned;no inhabitant is left.
Declare ye this in the house of Jacob, And sound ye it in Judah, saying,
Have you no fear of me? says the Lord; will you not be shaking with fear before me, who have put the sand as a limit for the sea, by an eternal order, so that it may not go past it? and though it is ever in motion, it is not able to have its way; though the sound of its waves is loud, they are not able to go past it.
“Run for cover, Benjaminites,out of Jerusalem!Sound the ram’s horn in Tekoa;raise a smoke signal over Beth-haccherem,for disaster threatens from the north,even great destruction.
As the spring keeps its waters cold, so she keeps her evil in her: the sound of cruel and violent behaviour is in her; before me at all times are disease and wounds.
Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken.
They grab bow and spear; they're cruel and show no mercy. Their sound roars like the sea as they ride on horses, deployed like men ready for battle against you, daughter of Zion."
