'Life's' in the Bible
“For it is a fire which consumes to Abaddon (destruction, ruin, final torment);And [illicit passion] would burn and rage and uproot all my [life’s] increase [destroying everything].
I will rejoice and be glad in Your steadfast love,Because You have seen my affliction;You have taken note of my life’s distresses,
for with You is life’s fountain.In Your light we will see light.
When you ignore them, they panic. When you take away their life's breath, they die and return to dust.
Their life's breath departs, they return to the ground; on that day their plans die.
Happy [blessed, considered fortunate, to be admired] is the man who finds [skillful and godly] wisdom,And the man who gains understanding and insight [learning from God’s word and life’s experiences],
The only worthwhile thing for a human being is to eat, drink, and enjoy life's goodness that he finds in what he accomplishes. This, I observed, is also from the hand of God himself,
and the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the life's breath returns to God who gave it.
Stop trusting in human beings, whose life's breath is in their nostrils. For why should they be given special consideration?
Why should any living mortal, or any man,Complain [of punishment] in view of his sins?
Say to the house of Israel, 'This is what the sovereign Lord says: Realize I am about to desecrate my sanctuary -- the source of your confident pride, the object in which your eyes delight, and your life's passion. Your very own sons and daughters whom you have left behind will die by the sword.
The one who says to wood, 'Wake up!' is as good as dead -- he who says to speechless stone, 'Awake!' Can it give reliable guidance? It is overlaid with gold and silver; it has no life's breath inside it.
And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?
And which of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life’s span?
I went in response to a revelation, and in a private meeting with the reputed leaders, I explained to them the gospel that I'm proclaiming to the gentiles. I did this because I was afraid that I was running or had run my life's race for nothing.
