strengthened himself ､

יְהוֹיָדָ֗ע

וַיִּקַּ֣ח

､ הַמֵּא֡וֹת

of hundreds ､

לַעֲזַרְיָ֣הוּ

la·‘ă·zar·yā·hū

בֶן־

､ יְרֹחָ֡ם

of Jeroham ､

וּלְיִשְׁמָעֵ֣אל

עִמּ֥וֹ

. בַבְּרִֽית׃

[and made a] covenant .

וַיָּסֹ֙בּוּ֙

And they went throughout

､ בִּֽיהוּדָ֔ה

bî·hū·ḏāh,

וַיִּקְבְּצ֤וּ

way·yiq·bə·ṣū

אֶת־

’eṯ-

הַלְוִיִּם֙

hal·wî·yim

מִכָּל־

mik·kāl

עָרֵ֣י

‘ā·rê

､ יְהוּדָ֔ה

yə·hū·ḏāh,

of Judah ､

וְרָאשֵׁ֥י

wə·rā·šê

הָאָב֖וֹת

hā·’ā·ḇō·wṯ

､ לְיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

lə·yiś·rā·’êl;

of Israel ､

וַיָּבֹ֖אוּ

way·yā·ḇō·’ū

אֶל־

’el-

to

. יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

yə·rū·šā·lim.

וַיִּכְרֹ֨ת

way·yiḵ·rōṯ

And made

כָּל־

kāl-

הַקָּהָ֥ל

haq·qā·hāl

בְּרִ֛ית

bə·rîṯ

בְּבֵ֥ית

bə·ḇêṯ

in the house

. הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים

hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm

of God .

עִם־

‘im-

With

הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ

ham·me·leḵ;

the king

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

way·yō·mer

and he said

לָהֶ֗ם

lā·hem,

､ הִנֵּ֤ה

hin·nêh

בֶן־

ḇen-

הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙

ham·me·leḵ

of the king

､ יִמְלֹ֔ךְ

yim·lōḵ,

shall reign ､

כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר

ka·’ă·šer

as

דִּבֶּ֥ר

יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

עַל־

‘al-

of

בְּנֵ֥י

bə·nê

the sons

. דָוִֽיד׃

of David .

This [is]

הַדָּבָ֖ר

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

– תַּעֲשׂ֑וּ

you shall do –

הַשְּׁלִשִׁ֨ית

haš·šə·li·šîṯ

מִכֶּ֜ם

mik·kem

of you

בָּאֵ֣י

bā·’ê

､ הַשַּׁבָּ֗ת

haš·šab·bāṯ,

on the Sabbath ､

לַכֹּֽהֲנִים֙

lak·kō·hă·nîm

of the priests

､ וְלַלְוִיִּ֔ם

wə·lal·wî·yim,

and the Levites ､

לְשֹֽׁעֲרֵ֖י

lə·šō·‘ă·rê

[shall be] keeping watch over

– הַסִּפִּֽים׃

has·sip·pîm.

the doors –

וְהַשְּׁלִשִׁית֙

wə·haš·šə·li·šîṯ

and a third [shall be]

– בְּבֵ֣ית

bə·ḇêṯ

at house –

הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ

ham·me·leḵ,

of the king

וְהַשְּׁלִשִׁ֖ית

wə·haš·šə·li·šîṯ

and a third

בְּשַׁ֣עַר

bə·ša·‘ar

at the Gate

– הַיְס֑וֹד

hay·sō·wḏ;

of the Foundation –

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

and all

הָעָ֔ם

hā·‘ām,

the people [shall be]

בְּחַצְר֖וֹת

bə·ḥaṣ·rō·wṯ

in the courts

בֵּ֥ית

bêṯ

of the house

. יְהוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.

וְאַל־

wə·’al-

But no one

יָב֣וֹא

yā·ḇō·w

בֵית־

ḇêṯ-

､ יְהוָ֗ה

Yah·weh

of Yahweh ､

כִּ֤י

kî

אִם־

’im-

､ הַכֹּֽהֲנִים֙

hak·kō·hă·nîm

the priests ､

וְהַמְשָׁרְתִ֣ים

wə·ham·šā·rə·ṯîm

and those who serve

– לַלְוִיִּ֔ם

lal·wî·yim,

of the Levites –

הֵ֥מָּה

hêm·māh

､ יָבֹ֖אוּ

yā·ḇō·’ū

may go in ､

כִּי־

kî-

. קֹ֣דֶשׁ

qō·ḏeš

הֵ֑מָּה

hêm·māh;

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

but all

הָעָ֔ם

hā·‘ām,

יִשְׁמְר֖וּ

yiš·mə·rū

מִשְׁמֶ֥רֶת

miš·me·reṯ

. יְהוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.

וְהִקִּיפוּ֩

wə·hiq·qî·p̄ū

And shall surround

הַלְוִיִּ֨ם

hal·wî·yim

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ

ham·me·leḵ

the king

､ סָבִ֗יב

sā·ḇîḇ,

on all sides ､

אִ֚ישׁ

’îš

וְכֵלָ֣יו

wə·ḵê·lāw

and with his weapons

– בְּיָד֔וֹ

bə·yā·ḏōw,

in his hand –

וְהַבָּ֥א

wə·hab·bā

and whoever comes

אֶל־

’el-

､ הַבַּ֖יִת

hab·ba·yiṯ

the house ､

. יוּמָ֑ת

yū·māṯ;

let him be put to death .

וִֽהְי֥וּ

wih·yū

You are to be

אֶת־

’eṯ-

with

הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ

ham·me·leḵ

the king

､ בְּבֹא֥וֹ

bə·ḇō·’ōw

when he comes in ､

. וּבְצֵאתֽוֹ׃

ū·ḇə·ṣê·ṯōw.

and when he goes out .

וַיַּעֲשׂ֨וּ

way·ya·‘ă·śū

So did

הַלְוִיִּ֜ם

hal·wî·yim

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

and all

יְהוּדָ֗ה

yə·hū·ḏāh,

כְּכֹ֣ל

kə·ḵōl

according to all

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

､ צִוָּה֮

ṣiw·wāh

יְהוֹיָדָ֣ע

yə·hō·w·yā·ḏā‘

הַכֹּהֵן֒

hak·kō·hên

וַיִּקְחוּ֙

way·yiq·ḥū

and took

אִ֣ישׁ

’îš

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

אֲנָשָׁ֔יו

’ă·nā·šāw,

בָּאֵ֣י

bā·’ê

who were to be on duty

､ הַשַּׁבָּ֔ת

haš·šab·bāṯ,

on the Sabbath ､

עִ֖ם

‘im

with

יוֹצְאֵ֣י

yō·wṣ·’ê

those who were going [off duty]

､ הַשַּׁבָּ֑ת

haš·šab·bāṯ;

on the Sabbath ､

כִּ֣י

לְשָׂרֵ֣י

to the captains

הַמֵּא֗וֹת

ham·mê·’ō·wṯ,

אֶת־

､ הַֽחֲנִיתִים֙

ha·ḥă·nî·ṯîm

the spears ､

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

､ הַמָּגִנּוֹת֙

ham·mā·ḡin·nō·wṯ

the large ､

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

､ הַשְּׁלָטִ֔ים

haš·šə·lā·ṭîm,

small shields ､

אֲשֶׁ֖ר

’ă·šer

which [had belonged]

לַמֶּ֣לֶךְ

lam·me·leḵ

､ דָּוִ֑יד

dā·wîḏ;

אֲשֶׁ֖ר

בֵּ֥ית

bêṯ

in the temple

. הָאֱלֹהִֽים׃

וַיַּעֲמֵ֨ד

And he set

the people ､

וְאִ֣ישׁ ׀

with his weapon

､ בְיָד֗וֹ

in his hand ､

הַבַּ֤יִת

of the temple

הַיְמָנִית֙

hay·mā·nîṯ

עַד־

of the temple ､

הַשְּׂמָאלִ֔ית

along by the altar

､ וְלַבָּ֑יִת

and by the temple ､

עַל־

the king

. סָבִֽיב׃

וַיּוֹצִ֣יאוּ

way·yō·w·ṣî·’ū

And they brought out

אֶת־

’eṯ-

､ בֶּן־

ben-

son ､

הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ

ham·me·leḵ,

of the king

וַיִּתְּנ֤וּ

way·yit·tə·nū

and put

עָלָיו֙

‘ā·lāw

on him

אֶת־

’eṯ-

､ הַנֵּ֙זֶר֙

han·nê·zer

the crown ､

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

､ הָ֣עֵד֔וּת

hā·‘ê·ḏūṯ,

[gave [him] the Testimony ､

וַיַּמְלִ֖יכוּ

way·yam·lî·ḵū

אֹת֑וֹ

’ō·ṯōw;

וַיִּמְשָׁחֻ֙הוּ֙

way·yim·šā·ḥu·hū

and anointed him

יְהוֹיָדָ֣ע

yə·hō·w·yā·ḏā‘

וּבָנָ֔יו

ū·ḇā·nāw,

､ וַיֹּאמְר֖וּ

way·yō·mə·rū

and said ､

יְחִ֥י

and the leaders

וְהַחֲצֹצְרוֹת֮

wə·ha·ḥă·ṣō·ṣə·rō·wṯ

and the trumpeters [were]

עַל־

‘al-

by

. הַמֶּלֶךְ֒

ham·me·leḵ

the king .

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

And all

עַ֨ם

‘am

הָאָ֜רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ

of the land

שָׂמֵ֗חַ

śā·mê·aḥ,

וְתוֹקֵ֙עַ֙

wə·ṯō·w·qê·a‘

､ בַּחֲצֹ֣צְר֔וֹת

ba·ḥă·ṣō·ṣə·rō·wṯ,

וְהַמְשֽׁוֹרֲרִים֙

and the singers

בִּכְלֵ֣י

with instruments

､ הַשִּׁ֔יר

וּמוֹדִיעִ֖ים

and those who led

. לְהַלֵּ֑ל

and said

אֲלֵהֶם֙

הֽוֹצִיא֙וּהָ֙

take her outside

וְאֶת־

and

צְלָמָ֖יו

､ שִׁבֵּ֑רוּ

in pieces ､

וְאֵ֗ת

מַתָּן֙

And he set

the gatekeepers

at

of the house

､ יְהוָ֑ה

Yah·weh;

of Yahweh ､

וְלֹֽא־

wə·lō-

so that no one

. יָבֹ֥א

טָמֵ֖א

[who was] unclean

לְכָל־

in any

. דָּבָֽר׃

And he took

of hundreds ､

and

the nobles ､

וְאֶת־

and

הַמּֽוֹשְׁלִ֨ים

ham·mō·wō·šə·lîm

､ בָּעָ֜ם

of the people ､

וְאֵ֣ת ׀

and

כָּל־

､ הָאָ֗רֶץ

of the land ､

וַיּ֤וֹרֶד

and brought down

of the kingdom .

– וַיִּשְׂמְח֥וּ

So rejoiced –

of the land

וְהָעִ֣יר

wə·hā·‘îr

and the city

､ שָׁקָ֑טָה

וְאֶת־

עֲתַלְיָ֖הוּ

‘ă·ṯal·yā·hū

הֵמִ֥יתוּ

. בֶחָֽרֶב׃
