And they beat down the cities, and on every good piece of land cast every man his stone, and filled it; and they stopped all the wells of water, and felled all the good trees: only in Kirharaseth left they the stones thereof; howbeit the slingers went about it, and smote it.
By the hand of your messengers you have mocked the Lord, and you have said, 'With my many chariots I have gone up [to] the height of the mountains. Even [to] the edge of forest of its fertile land.
Though a tenth will remain in the land,it will be burned again.Like the terebinth or the oakthat leaves a stump when felled, the holy seed is the stump.
"[The] bricks have fallen, but we will build [with] dressed stone. [The] sycamore-fig trees were felled, but we will replace [them with] cedars."
Look, the Lord God of Hostswill chop off the branches with terrifying power, and the tall trees will be cut down, the high trees felled.
Wail, O cypress, for the cedar has fallen,Because the magnificent trees have been destroyed;Wail, O oaks of Bashan,For the inaccessible forest [on the steep mountainside] has come down.
