'Teaching' in the Bible

My teaching will drop like the rain, my sayings will drip like the dew, as rain drops upon the grass, and showers upon new growth.

Now Ezra had dedicated himself to the study of the law of the Lord, to its observance, and to teaching its statutes and judgments in Israel.

Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, and Pelaiah -- all of whom were Levites -- were teaching the people the law, as the people remained standing.

For you have said, 'My teaching is flawless, and I am pure in your sight.'

Because I give you good instruction, do not forsake my teaching.

Your priests did not ask, 'Where is the Lord?' Those responsible for teaching my law did not really know me. Your rulers rebelled against me. Your prophets prophesied in the name of the god Baal. They all worshiped idols that could not help them.

When Jesus finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed by his teaching,

Then Jesus went throughout all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and sickness.

Then they understood that he had not told them to be on guard against the yeast in bread, but against the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

Now after Jesus entered the temple courts, the chief priests and elders of the people came up to him as he was teaching and said, "By what authority are you doing these things, and who gave you this authority?"

At that moment Jesus said to the crowd, "Have you come out with swords and clubs to arrest me like you would an outlaw? Day after day I sat teaching in the temple courts, yet you did not arrest me.

The people there were amazed by his teaching, because he taught them like one who had authority, not like the experts in the law.

They were all amazed so that they asked each other, "What is this? A new teaching with authority! He even commands the unclean spirits and they obey him."

He taught them many things in parables, and in his teaching said to them:

The chief priests and the experts in the law heard it and they considered how they could assassinate him, for they feared him, because the whole crowd was amazed by his teaching.

While Jesus was teaching in the temple courts, he said, "How is it that the experts in the law say that the Christ is David's son?

In his teaching Jesus also said, "Watch out for the experts in the law. They like walking around in long robes and elaborate greetings in the marketplaces,

Day after day I was with you, teaching in the temple courts, yet you did not arrest me. But this has happened so that the scriptures would be fulfilled."

Now on one of those days, while he was teaching, there were Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting nearby (who had come from every village of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem), and the power of the Lord was with him to heal.

On another Sabbath, Jesus entered the synagogue and was teaching. Now a man was there whose right hand was withered.

After Jesus had finished teaching all this to the people, he entered Capernaum.

Now he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath,

Then Jesus traveled throughout towns and villages, teaching and making his way toward Jerusalem.

Jesus was teaching daily in the temple courts. The chief priests and the experts in the law and the prominent leaders among the people were seeking to assassinate him,

Now one day, as Jesus was teaching the people in the temple courts and proclaiming the gospel, the chief priests and the experts in the law with the elders came up

So every day Jesus was teaching in the temple courts, but at night he went and stayed on the Mount of Olives.

But they persisted in saying, "He incites the people by teaching throughout all Judea. It started in Galilee and ended up here!"

Jesus said these things while he was teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.

Then Jesus, while teaching in the temple courts, cried out, "You both know me and know where I come from! And I have not come on my own initiative, but the one who sent me is true. You do not know him,

(Jesus spoke these words near the offering box while he was teaching in the temple courts. No one seized him because his time had not yet come.)

I know that you are Abraham's descendants. But you want to kill me, because my teaching makes no progress among you.

Then the Judeans responded, "Now we know you're possessed by a demon! Both Abraham and the prophets died, and yet you say, 'If anyone obeys my teaching, he will never experience death.'

Yet you do not know him, but I know him. If I were to say that I do not know him, I would be a liar like you. But I do know him, and I obey his teaching.

While this was happening, the high priest questioned Jesus about his disciples and about his teaching.

angry because they were teaching the people and announcing in Jesus the resurrection of the dead.

When they heard this, they entered the temple courts at daybreak and began teaching. Now when the high priest and those who were with him arrived, they summoned the Sanhedrin -- that is, the whole high council of the Israelites -- and sent to the jail to have the apostles brought before them.

But someone came and reported to them, "Look! The men you put in prison are standing in the temple courts and teaching the people!"

saying, "We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name. Look, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and you intend to bring this man's blood on us!"

Then when the proconsul saw what had happened, he believed, because he was greatly astounded at the teaching about the Lord.

But Paul and Barnabas remained in Antioch, teaching and proclaiming (along with many others) the word of the Lord.

So they took Paul and brought him to the Areopagus, saying, "May we know what this new teaching is that you are proclaiming?

You know that I did not hold back from proclaiming to you anything that would be helpful, and from teaching you publicly and from house to house,

Now, brothers and sisters, if I come to you speaking in tongues, how will I help you unless I speak to you with a revelation or with knowledge or prophecy or teaching?

sexually immoral people, practicing homosexuals, kidnappers, liars, perjurers -- in fact, for any who live contrary to sound teaching.

By pointing out such things to the brothers and sisters, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, having nourished yourself on the words of the faith and of the good teaching that you have followed.

Those who are under the yoke as slaves must regard their own masters as deserving of full respect. This will prevent the name of God and Christian teaching from being discredited.

If someone spreads false teachings and does not agree with sound words (that is, those of our Lord Jesus Christ) and with the teaching that accords with godliness,

For there will be a time when people will not tolerate sound teaching. Instead, following their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves, because they have an insatiable curiosity to hear new things.

who must be silenced because they mislead whole families by teaching for dishonest gain what ought not to be taught.

But as for you, communicate the behavior that goes with sound teaching.

Older women likewise are to exhibit behavior fitting for those who are holy, not slandering, not slaves to excessive drinking, but teaching what is good.

not pilfering, but showing all good faith, in order to bring credit to the teaching of God our Savior in everything.

Everyone who goes on ahead and does not remain in the teaching of Christ does not have God. The one who remains in this teaching has both the Father and the Son.

If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house and do not give him any greeting,

But I have a few things against you: You have some people there who follow the teaching of Balaam, who instructed Balak to put a stumbling block before the people of Israel so they would eat food sacrificed to idols and commit sexual immorality.

In the same way, there are also some among you who follow the teaching of the Nicolaitans.

But I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, and by her teaching deceives my servants to commit sexual immorality and to eat food sacrificed to idols.

But to the rest of you in Thyatira, all who do not hold to this teaching (who have not learned the so-called "deep secrets of Satan"), to you I say: I do not put any additional burden on you.
