“I also pleaded with the Lord at that time, saying,

Then Moses lifted up his hand and struck the rock twice with his rod; and water came forth abundantly, and the congregation and their beasts drank.

for in the wilderness of Zin, during the strife of the congregation, you rebelled against My command to treat Me as holy before their eyes at the water.” (These are the waters of Meribah of Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.)

Those were the waters of

Meribah, because the sons of Israel contended with the Lord, and He proved Himself holy among them.

Because ye

Then Moses said to Aaron, “It is what the Lord spoke, saying,
‘By those who come near Me I

will be treated as holy,

And before all the people I will be honored.’”
So Aaron, therefore, kept silent.

and he cried to the man of God who came from Judah, saying, “Thus says the Lord, ‘Because you have disobeyed the command of the Lord, and have not observed the commandment which the Lord your God commanded you,

“It is the Lord of hosts whom you should regard as holy.
And He shall be your fear,
And He shall be your dread.

For it is time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?
