The Lord Judges the Nations

､ הִנֵּ֛ה

､ בַּיָּמִ֥ים

bay·yā·mîm

in days ､

הָהֵ֖מָּה

hā·hêm·māh

､ וּבָעֵ֣ת

ū·ḇā·‘êṯ

and at time ､

הַהִ֑יא

ha·hî;

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

[אשוב]

’ā·šūḇ

-

(אָשִׁ֛יב)

’ā·šîḇ

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

שְׁב֥וּת

šə·ḇūṯ

יְהוּדָ֖ה

yə·hū·ḏāh

､ וִירוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

wî·rū·šā·lim.

and Jerusalem ､

וְקִבַּצְתִּי֙

wə·qib·baṣ·tî

and I will gather

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

כָּל־

kāl-

､ הַגּוֹיִ֔ם

hag·gō·w·yim,

וְה֣וֹרַדְתִּ֔ים

wə·hō·w·raḏ·tîm,

and bring them down

אֶל־

’el-

to

עֵ֖מֶק

‘ê·meq

､ יְהֽוֹשָׁפָ֑ט

yə·hō·wō·šā·p̄āṭ;

of Jehoshaphat ､

וְנִשְׁפַּטְתִּ֨י

wə·niš·paṭ·tî

and I will enter into judgment

עִמָּ֜ם

‘im·mām

with them

שָׁ֗ם

šām,

עַל־

‘al-

עַמִּ֨י

‘am·mî

of My people

וְנַחֲלָתִ֤י

wə·na·ḥă·lā·ṯî

and My heritage

､ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙

yiś·rā·’êl

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

פִּזְּר֣וּ

piz·zə·rū

they have scattered

､ בַגּוֹיִ֔ם

ḇag·gō·w·yim,

among the nations ､

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and also

אַרְצִ֖י

’ar·ṣî

. חִלֵּֽקוּ׃

ḥil·lê·qū.

they have divided up .

וְאֶל־

wə·’el-

– עַמִּ֖י

‘am·mî

My people –

יַדּ֣וּ

yad·dū

גוֹרָ֑ל

ḡō·w·rāl;

וַיִּתְּנ֤וּ

way·yit·tə·nū

and have given [as payment]

הַיֶּ֙לֶד֙

hay·ye·leḏ

､ בַּזּוֹנָ֔ה

baz·zō·w·nāh,

for a harlot ､

וְהַיַּלְדָּ֛ה

wə·hay·yal·dāh

and a girl

מָכְר֥וּ

mā·ḵə·rū

､ בַיַּ֖יִן

ḇay·ya·yin

. וַיִּשְׁתּֽוּ׃

way·yiš·tū.

that they may drink .

､ וְ֠גַם

wə·ḡam

And indeed ､

מָה־

māh-

אַתֶּ֥ם

’at·tem

לִי֙

lî

to do with Me

､ צֹ֣ר

ṣōr

Tyre ､

､ וְצִיד֔וֹן

wə·ṣî·ḏō·wn,

and Sidon ､

וְכֹ֖ל

wə·ḵōl

and all

גְּלִיל֣וֹת

gə·lî·lō·wṯ

؟ פְּלָ֑שֶׁת

pə·lā·šeṯ;

of Philistia ؟

؟ הַגְּמ֗וּל

hag·gə·mūl,

אַתֶּם֙

’at·tem

מְשַׁלְּמִ֣ים

mə·šal·lə·mîm

will

עָלָ֔י

‘ā·lāy,

וְאִם־

wə·’im-

but if

גֹּמְלִ֤ים

gō·mə·lîm

אַתֶּם֙

’at·tem

עָלַ֔י

‘ā·lay,

קַ֣ל

qal

מְהֵרָ֔ה

mə·hê·rāh,

אָשִׁ֥יב

’ā·šîḇ

I will return

גְּמֻלְכֶ֖ם

gə·mul·ḵem

your retaliation

– בְּרֹאשְׁכֶֽם׃

bə·rō·šə·ḵem.

upon your own head –

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

כַּסְפִּ֥י

kas·pî

､ וּזְהָבִ֖י

ū·zə·hā·ḇî

and My gold ､

לְקַחְתֶּ֑ם

lə·qaḥ·tem;

– וּמַֽחֲמַדַּי֙

ū·ma·ḥă·mad·day

and My possessions –

הַטֹּבִ֔ים

haṭ·ṭō·ḇîm,

הֲבֵאתֶ֖ם

hă·ḇê·ṯem

. לְהֵיכְלֵיכֶֽם׃

lə·hê·ḵə·lê·ḵem.

into your temples .

וּבְנֵ֤י

ū·ḇə·nê

And the sons

יְהוּדָה֙

yə·hū·ḏāh

וּבְנֵ֣י

ū·ḇə·nê

and the sons

יְרוּשָׁלִַ֔ם

yə·rū·šā·lim,

מְכַרְתֶּ֖ם

mə·ḵar·tem

לִבְנֵ֣י

liḇ·nê

to

הַיְּוָנִ֑ים

hay·yə·wā·nîm;

לְמַ֥עַן

lə·ma·‘an

הַרְחִיקָ֖ם

har·ḥî·qām

you may remove them far

מֵעַ֥ל

mê·‘al

. גְּבוּלָֽם׃

gə·ḇū·lām.

their borders .

הִנְנִ֣י

hin·nî

מְעִירָ֔ם

mə·‘î·rām,

I will raise them

מִן־

min-

הַ֨מָּק֔וֹם

ham·mā·qō·wm,

of the place

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

מְכַרְתֶּ֥ם

mə·ḵar·tem

אֹתָ֖ם

’ō·ṯām

שָׁ֑מָּה

šām·māh;

וַהֲשִׁבֹתִ֥י

wa·hă·ši·ḇō·ṯî

and will return

גְמֻלְכֶ֖ם

ḡə·mul·ḵem

your retaliation

. בְּרֹאשְׁכֶֽם׃

bə·rō·šə·ḵem.

upon your own head .

וּמָכַרְתִּ֞י

ū·mā·ḵar·tî

And I will sell

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

בְּנֵיכֶ֣ם

bə·nê·ḵem

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

בְּנֽוֹתֵיכֶ֗ם

bə·nō·w·ṯê·ḵem,

בְּיַד֙

bə·yaḏ

בְּנֵ֣י

bə·nê

of the sons

､ יְהוּדָ֔ה

yə·hū·ḏāh,

of Judah ､

וּמְכָר֥וּם

ū·mə·ḵā·rūm

and they will sell them

､ לִשְׁבָאיִ֖ם

liš·ḇā·yim

to the Sabeans ､

אֶל־

’el-

to

גּ֣וֹי

gō·w

– רָח֑וֹק

rā·ḥō·wq;

כִּ֥י

kî

יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

. דִּבֵּֽר׃

dib·bêr.

זֹאת֙

– בַּגּוֹיִ֔ם

bag·gō·w·yim,

among the nations –

קַדְּשׁ֖וּ

qad·də·šū

､ מִלְחָמָ֑ה

mil·ḥā·māh;

הָעִ֙ירוּ֙

hā·‘î·rū

､ הַגִּבּוֹרִ֔ים

hag·gib·bō·w·rîm,

the mighty men ､

– יִגְּשׁ֣וּ

yig·gə·šū

let draw near –

– יַֽעֲל֔וּ

ya·‘ă·lū,

let them come up –

כֹּ֖ל

kōl

אַנְשֵׁ֥י

’an·šê

the men

. הַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃

ham·mil·ḥā·māh.

of war .

כֹּ֤תּוּ

kōt·tū

אִתֵּיכֶם֙

’it·tê·ḵem

your plowshares

､ לַֽחֲרָב֔וֹת

la·ḥă·rā·ḇō·wṯ,

into swords ､

וּמַזְמְרֹֽתֵיכֶ֖ם

ū·maz·mə·rō·ṯê·ḵem

and your pruning hooks

– לִרְמָחִ֑ים

lir·mā·ḥîm;

into spears –

הַֽחַלָּ֔שׁ

ha·ḥal·lāš,

the weak

､ יֹאמַ֖ר

yō·mar

גִּבּ֥וֹר

gib·bō·wr

. אָֽנִי׃

’ā·nî.

I [am] .

ע֣וּשׁוּ

‘ū·šū

､ וָבֹ֧אוּ

wā·ḇō·’ū

and come ､

כָֽל־

ḵāl

､ הַגּוֹיִ֛ם

hag·gō·w·yim

you nations ､

– מִסָּבִ֖יב

mis·sā·ḇîḇ

וְנִקְבָּ֑צוּ

wə·niq·bā·ṣū;

and gather together

שָׁ֕מָּה

šām·māh

､ הַֽנְחַ֥ת

han·ḥaṯ

Cause to go down ､

יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

. גִּבּוֹרֶֽיךָ׃

gib·bō·w·re·ḵā.

Your mighty ones .

､ יֵע֙וֹרוּ֙

yê·‘ō·w·rū

Let be wakened ､

וְיַעֲל֣וּ

wə·ya·‘ă·lū

and come up

הַגּוֹיִ֔ם

hag·gō·w·yim,

אֶל־

’el-

to

עֵ֖מֶק

‘ê·meq

､ יְהֽוֹשָׁפָ֑ט

yə·hō·wō·šā·p̄āṭ;

of Jehoshaphat ､

כִּ֣י

kî

שָׁ֗ם

šām,

אֵשֵׁ֛ב

’ê·šêḇ

I will sit

לִשְׁפֹּ֥ט

liš·pōṭ

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

כָּל־

kāl-

הַגּוֹיִ֖ם

hag·gō·w·yim

. מִסָּבִֽיב׃

mis·sā·ḇîḇ.

שִׁלְח֣וּ

šil·ḥū

､ מַגָּ֔ל

mag·gāl,

in the sickle ､

כִּ֥י

kî

. בָשַׁ֖ל

ḇā·šal

is ripe .

קָצִ֑יר

qā·ṣîr;

､ בֹּ֤אֽוּ

bō·’ū

come ､

– רְדוּ֙

rə·ḏū

go down –

כִּֽי־

kî-

､ מָ֣לְאָה

mā·lə·’āh

is full ､

גַּ֔ת

gaṯ,

– הֵשִׁ֙יקוּ֙

hê·šî·qū

הַיְקָבִ֔ים

hay·qā·ḇîm,

the vats

כִּ֥י

kî

רַבָּ֖ה

rab·bāh

. רָעָתָֽם׃

rā·‘ā·ṯām.

their wickedness [is] .

､ הֲמוֹנִ֣ים

hă·mō·w·nîm

הֲמוֹנִ֔ים

hă·mō·w·nîm,

בְּעֵ֖מֶק

bə·‘ê·meq

in the valley

! הֶֽחָר֑וּץ

he·ḥā·rūṣ;

כִּ֤י

kî

קָרוֹב֙

qā·rō·wḇ

[is] near

י֣וֹם

yō·wm

the day

יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

בְּעֵ֖מֶק

bə·‘ê·meq

in the valley

. הֶחָרֽוּץ׃

he·ḥā·rūṣ.

שֶׁ֥מֶשׁ

še·meš

The sun

וְיָרֵ֖חַ

wə·yā·rê·aḥ

and moon

､ קָדָ֑רוּ

qā·ḏā·rū;

will grow dark ､

וְכוֹכָבִ֖ים

wə·ḵō·w·ḵā·ḇîm

and the stars

אָסְפ֥וּ

’ā·sə·p̄ū

. נָגְהָֽם׃

nā·ḡə·hām.

their brightness .

וַיהוָ֞ה

Yah·weh

מִצִּיּ֣וֹן

miṣ·ṣî·yō·wn

יִשְׁאָ֗ג

yiš·’āḡ,

will roar

וּמִירוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙

ū·mî·rū·šā·lim

and from Jerusalem

יִתֵּ֣ן

yit·tên

קוֹל֔וֹ

qō·w·lōw,

. וְרָעֲשׁ֖וּ

wə·rā·‘ă·šū

and will shake .

שָׁמַ֣יִם

šā·ma·yim

וָאָ֑רֶץ

wā·’ā·reṣ;

וַֽיהוָה֙

Yah·weh

but Yahweh will be

מַֽחֲסֶ֣ה

ma·ḥă·seh

､ לְעַמּ֔וֹ

lə·‘am·mōw,

for His people ､

וּמָע֖וֹז

ū·mā·‘ō·wz

and the strength

לִבְנֵ֥י

liḇ·nê

of the sons

. יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

yiś·rā·’êl.

Blessings for God's People

וִֽידַעְתֶּ֗ם

wî·ḏa‘·tem,

So you shall know

כִּ֣י

kî

אֲנִ֤י

’ă·nî

I [am]

יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

אֱלֹ֣הֵיכֶ֔ם

’ĕ·lō·hê·ḵem,

שֹׁכֵ֖ן

šō·ḵên

､ בְּצִיּ֣וֹן

bə·ṣî·yō·wn

in Zion ､

. הַר־

har-

קָדְשִׁ֑י

qāḏ·šî

וְהָיְתָ֤ה

wə·hā·yə·ṯāh

and shall be

יְרוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙

yə·rū·šā·lim

､ קֹ֔דֶשׁ

qō·ḏeš,

holy ､

וְזָרִ֥ים

wə·zā·rîm

לֹא־

lō-

no

יַֽעַבְרוּ־

ya·‘aḇ·rū-

shall pass through

בָ֖הּ

ḇāh

. עֽוֹד׃

‘ō·wḏ.

וְהָיָה֩

wə·hā·yāh

And it will come to pass

､ בַיּ֨וֹם

ḇay·yō·wm

in day ､

הַה֜וּא

ha·hū

יִטְּפ֧וּ

yiṭ·ṭə·p̄ū

[That] shall drip

הֶהָרִ֣ים

he·hā·rîm

､ עָסִ֗יס

‘ā·sîs,

with new wine ､

וְהַגְּבָעוֹת֙

wə·hag·gə·ḇā·‘ō·wṯ

and the hills

תֵּלַ֣כְנָה

tê·laḵ·nāh

､ חָלָ֔ב

ḥā·lāḇ,

with milk ､

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

and all

אֲפִיקֵ֥י

’ă·p̄î·qê

יְהוּדָ֖ה

yə·hū·ḏāh

יֵ֣לְכוּ

yê·lə·ḵū

shall be flooded

､ מָ֑יִם

mā·yim;

with water ､

וּמַעְיָ֗ן

ū·ma‘·yān,

מִבֵּ֤ית

mib·bêṯ

､ יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

of Yahweh ､

יֵצֵ֔א

yê·ṣê,

וְהִשְׁקָ֖ה

wə·hiš·qāh

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

נַ֥חַל

na·ḥal

. הַשִּׁטִּֽים׃

haš·šiṭ·ṭîm.

מִצְרַ֙יִם֙

miṣ·ra·yim

､ לִשְׁמָמָ֣ה

liš·mā·māh

a desolation ､

תִֽהְיֶ֔ה

ṯih·yeh,

וֶאֱד֕וֹם

we·’ĕ·ḏō·wm

and Edom

､ לְמִדְבַּ֥ר

lə·miḏ·bar

a wilderness ､

שְׁמָמָ֖ה

šə·mā·māh

תִּֽהְיֶ֑ה

tih·yeh;

מֵֽחֲמַס֙

mê·ḥă·mas

because of violence

בְּנֵ֣י

bə·nê

[against] the sons

､ יְהוּדָ֔ה

yə·hū·ḏāh,

of Judah ､

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

שָׁפְכ֥וּ

šā·p̄ə·ḵū

דָם־

ḏām-

נָקִ֖יא

nā·qî

. בְּאַרְצָֽם׃

bə·’ar·ṣām.

in their land .

וִיהוּדָ֖ה

wî·hū·ḏāh

､ לְעוֹלָ֣ם

lə·‘ō·w·lām

תֵּשֵׁ֑ב

tê·šêḇ;

וִירוּשָׁלִַ֖ם

wî·rū·šā·lim

לְד֥וֹר

lə·ḏō·wr

from generation

. וָדֽוֹר׃

wā·ḏō·wr.

and to generation .

וְנִקֵּ֖יתִי

wə·niq·qê·ṯî

For I will acquit

דָּמָ֣ם

dā·mām

them of the [guilt] of bloodshed

לֹֽא־

lō-

not

､ נִקֵּ֑יתִי

niq·qê·ṯî;

whom I had acquitted ､

וַֽיהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

שֹׁכֵ֥ן

šō·ḵên

. בְּצִיּֽוֹן׃

bə·ṣî·yō·wn.

in Zion .
